Terrific campsite! The only negative is during the winter campers with generators are mixed in with tent campers. Generators are allowed into the dark and can begin again early in the morning creating lots of noise at an otherwise tranquil site.

While it is understandable that the entire campground is not open in early April, we do not understand why tent campers and those in RVs or cars with generators cannot be designated to a separate section. We came to camp, to listen to the brook and wildlife NOT to listen to motors.Bathrooms need updating and daily cleaning. Aside from these comments, the location is convenient to hiking trails, the sites are level, and it still has a wild feeling to it. Elk roamed the campground daily.

Loved our stay at Smokemont. Everything is accessible and the bathrooms were always clean. Our spot was perfect and we never felt crowded. It can get busy on some nights but other nights, it was nice and quiet. We stayed for 7 days and really enjoyed our time. The only issue I had was there isnt hot water available to use at the dish washing station so that made life a little hard when it came to washing up. We did heat some water on the camp stove but it would have been a little easier and a lot dryer.

The 6 mile loop was wonderful. We thought we might have lost our way, because it took over 3 hours. It goes up near the top of a ridge and then comes back down. We saw an incredible variety of mushrooms (the hike was in August).

The campground was quiet, shady and peaceful with a creek flowing nearby. It was a prime location to explore the rest of the park from.

This campsite is clean and well maintained. The surroundings are beautiful and tranquil. One of the best tent campsites we experienced during a recent camping trip through the Smokeys.
