Enjoyed three nights tent camping and were able to book on short notice. Potable water available but tastes strongly of treatment/chlorine; next time I would bring my own drinking water. Ice and firewood available at stables nearby. Enjoyed nearby trails including the Smokemont Loop and walking along Bradley Creek.

Sites are all right next to each other so you wont have a ton of privacy, but the bathrooms are nice, love the stream nearby that provides white noise all night

The sites are large with enough trees for shade. I really enjoyed visiting the restored chapel near the entrance of the campground.

Love the campground. There are some hikes of the campground. Bathrooms clean and tent pads doesn't seem you are on top of someone.

First time I've camped here. Been to Smokemont 3 other times on thru hikes and always liked it. I can now say its a great location to camp. Very good facilities, quiet hours was quiet, and great trails to hike N, S, E and W of the campgrounds.

Smokemont was a nice campground. However, when we parked at Big Creek Trailhead our car was vandalized and much of our gear and clothes were stolen. Along with one wallet which was then used to charge over $10,000 in fraudulent purchases. The park police were helpful but it seems like it would be fairly simple to track down the criminals but that does not appear to be a priority.

Smokemont is hands down my favorite camp ground in NC. I'll never get over the amount of Elk right outside the campground.

Bathrooms provided flush toilets and running water, and they were well stocked and clean. It was an easy drive to Cherokee.

Overall, we had a great experience at Smokemont. The campground is in a nice little valley area and trails accessible nearby, a few even in the campground. Bathrooms were clean and conveniently located. Overall, the campground was clean. The few encounters we had with rangers were pleasant. The lack of staff on site and only a few ranger pass throughs for several days was not ideal, though I understand staffing issues. Many people checked in without any staff contact and clearly did not know the guidelines and did not read the info posted when you come in. We had a neighbor who ran their generator late into the night one night, ignoring the non-generator times. We saw food items left out in camp sites. A lot of people just don't know what they are doing and need the one on one guidance.

Great campground with spacious sites and easy access to trail. Bathrooms were very clean and well maintained.

The campground was very well maintained, the restrooms were kept very clean and the sites are spaced out far enough to not feel cramped. It was a great camping experience.
