We love Smokemont. Site A007This was a strange stay. The rangers were not around very much.Smokemont does have a mouse problem. We picked up two when we were there a couple of months ago and finally caught them, in humane traps, while at Elkmont. Then we ended up with another one this trip but, fortunately, caught this one the morning we left. I dont like rodents of any kind in the motorhome!

The rangers and volunteers were very knowledgeable and helpful. I would like to see more undergrowth be allowed to grow between campsites.

The sites by the river will get to fall asleep to the sound of some rapids. Had a beautiful elk encounter while cooking breakfast and chose to distance myself. Pretty site!

Smokemont is one of our favorite spots because of the river and the peaceful nature of being right in the middle of the Smokey Mountains! Highly recommend!!

A lovely campground and perfect for exploring the eastern side of Great Smokey Mountain National Park. Our only con was that the tent pads did not percolate water after several several hours of steady rain. We had to move our tent out of a puddle and eventually ended up packing up a day early. This seemed to be a problem across all of the tent pads we saw on A and B loop.

Beautiful Campground, not as wooded as I thought it would be(as in no privacy from your neighbors at all) bathrooms were clean and plenty of them, so no matter what site you had, it wasn't a long walk. We were very close to the river which was beautiful. Saw tons of Elk on the way in and near our site. Tent pads were graveled, so must have sleep pads or the regular ground is better. I would definitely stay again if I couldnt find a Campground with more private sites. I'm from New England and most are campgrounds have trees in in between the sites.

Nice campground. Average spacing between sites for a NPS/State Park. Enjoyed the River across from us. It had rained and it was a roaring River that drowned out any generator noise while we were there. It was February so only winter sections were open. We stayed in A7 and saw elk by the office. Will definitely go back

Wonderful campground! The constant rushing of water from the river was absolutely refreshing! Nature's true sound machine. Campsite was nice and clean, and rangers at check-in were very friendly and helped us out with whatever questions we had. Super convenient to have ice, firewood and other small needs available for purchase on-site. The natural beauty of the Smokys were captured at Smokemont Campground. Will definitely be back again. Campsite is also close to Cherokee and stores if needed. Wonderful experience all together.

The sites are closer than I anticipated, but it was such a nice experience, we went end of January, beginning February and it snowed. Beautiful and worth everything. I recommend going and expecting the Cherokee museum on the reservation.

We arrived 12/18/20 hoping for a white Christmas. We got it! Explored the stream and nature trail, visited the nearby museums (highly recommend Museum of the Cherokee Indians), and reveled in the snow while it lasted. The
heated bathrooms were a plus. Seeing elk practically every trip toward Cherokee was a treat.
