The campground was mostly quiet. The recent rains made Deep Creek and surrounding waters beautiful to see. The rangers were very nice and helpful. The hiking in the area was enjoyable. Having a cell signal (AT&T) at the campsite was helpful for communication with friends and family. The wifi at the kiosk, though a little slow, was sufficient for our needs. The only downside to the campground was the bad odor in the comfort stations (with the exception of the picnic are). The bathrooms were cleaned regularly, but retained the smell of BO throughout our 10 night stay. This will not keep us from returning.

No staff at the campground the two days I was there (early May). The weather report and the site reservations list posted was from the week before. The sites aren't bad, but some of them are very close. My neighbor's picnic table and mine were within 10 or 12 feet of each other. Shade is variable, depending on the site. Restrooms were clean, but are a pretty good walk from some of the sites. Usually not very crowded, this campground is definitely off the beaten path for most Smokies visitors. Make sure you know the roads to the campground, GPS tends to give some strange directions, and there isn't a lot of directional signage. Campground is close to the Deep Creek trailhead and adjacent picnic area. Deep Creek is very popular for tubing in the warm weather.

Lots of waterfall trails very close to site. Two trails allow bikes which was nice. Creek is loud and beautiful. Great experience.

The campsite was near some short hikes, which is always nice to have near. A quick walk to a waterfall before turning in.
