Weve been to GSMNP many times before this visit but wed never stayed or visited the Deep Creek area. We loved the hiking accessibility to the waterfalls from our campsite and it was a really beautiful area. The only complaint, if you could even call it that, was that the check-in procedures shouldve been a little clearer. We arrived when the check-in booth was closed, but we had a required reservation and went straight to our site. We read the check-in procedures that were posted at the booth and it said to check in when the booth reopened. We got a visit from the camp hosts in their golf cart not long after our arrival on our site and they told us we shouldve stopped at their site to check in and this set of specific directions was not posted at the check in booth. I like to be informed and wouldve appreciated that being listed as a procedure if thats what were supposed to do. Also, are you ever going to go back to first come first serve sites?? Its a real drag always having to have reservations especially when the cell phone service is so spotty throughout the park. My suggestion would be to have a few walk in sites available at every campground. It takes away from the spontaneous adventure when you have to be planned out days, weeks, sometimes months a head of time. Thank you for reading.

In a Sylvan Sport GO with 2 person tent as well. The paved surface (like a number of the sites) is on a slope. The GO (12 foot trailer) just fit on the more level area. There were a number of campers making a lot of use of blocks and chocks on the hills. Otherwise, the site was nice, close to the bathroom - but not too close. We did not find the proximity to other campsites an issue.
