Easy to find site, beautiful vistas. Camp store was closed and only a drink vending machine was available. I wish we had booked another night.

Newer restrooms. Nice dump station with gravity fill potable water. Sites are generally small and close but bushes give some privacy.

Nice site. Rockwork surrounding site needs repair. A rock step needed from parking area into the picnic/tent area. Improved pathway needed from site to bathrooms, including steps to accommodate the 3 foot drop to restrooms.

Such a peaceful and beautiful campground. We had site 86 and loved it. The smell of the campfires and the abundance of stars to gaze at was quite amazing.

Beautiful campground with great views, plenty of shade, and walking distance to the dunes.

Park staff helped us plan and make the most out of our stay. One of the most unique places in America.

Beautiful view of the top of the dunes and conveniently located within the park between two bathrooms and a short walk to the camp store. Got hotter than we anticipated but was manageable with a fan and the breeze

The views are incomparable. The sites are paved and reasonably level. My main complaint would be that the lights on the newly remodeled restrooms are way too bright, and it lights up The area enough to really interfere with stargazing.

Pinon Flats is one of the most scenic campgrounds in the country. While older and originally designed for tent campers it is very functional for us smaller RV types. The only drawback, oddly, is that water at the dump station is not easily available as the hose end does not have a screw on interface. That does need reconsideration. Otherwise a great place altogether. Mountains and Dunes out every window. Pinon pines everywhere. Beautiful!!

There are very few campsites available for trailers over 20 feet in Pinon Flats. We had site 86, which was one of them. Our 24 foot trailer fit with room to spare. If you are longer, you will fit by letting the rear of the trailer overhang the stone wall, until the tires touch. The site was angled correctly for easy back in. It was wide enough to park your tow vehicle across the driveway. You were buffered from the wind and had a nice view of part of the sand dunes and the mts. to the north. The trees offered some shade, even though it faced south. You didn't have neighbors on either side, but you did below you, which could be an issue if they are noisy. The bathroom is also in view below and the lights are left on at night. Unfortunately there are several established paths that come too close to your space and in several cases we had people walk through our outdoor space. Even after asking one person three times not to do that, she felt we were being rude for not letting her do that. I suggest you move some rocks and branches to make it difficult for people to do that. Put your outdoor stuff in the way of the path. The real path is only a short way down the road.

Very nice campground, not many sites suitable for big RVs. The facilities are kept clean.

Beautiful park but some of the sites are too close back to back. We were loop b 86 and it backed onto another site with modes. Id shift the other site to give more privacy.

The great sand dunes and the pion flats campground are very serene, beautiful natural area! We have spent three to five days there every year for about thirty years. It is wonderful that it is now a national park. Be sure to participate in the ranger walks and evening programs. Hiking to the top of the dunes is a must. Night skies are superb!
