Clean campsites and clean bathrooms. The north end of the dunes are easy to walk to. If you Google maps, you can find a site with plenty of shade.

Nice shady site. Love the trail to the dunes from the campground.

The Camp Ground (CG) exceeded my expectations. The sites were clean and well maintained. The bathrooms were outstanding, clean and recently (2022) refurbished. The cleaning service did an outstanding job cleaning them and keeping them maintained. The entire system (Infrastructure) was recently renewed. The roads and each camp site was repaved! It was like NEW!!!This is a highly desirable NP, my advise for anyone wanting to secure a site at this NP would be to do so early!!The staff was knowledgeable and very courteous!! All so professional!!!I'll be back!

Incredible facilities and beautiful views! We were in 83 and 73. 83 is a parallel parking spot and 73 is a pull in. With a 24ft RV with slides, 73 was a much better spot!

BEWARE! We made our reservation for site 73 at Pinion Flats based on the website's filtering of sites suitable for our size trailer. The website stated that a trailer up to 30 ft. long could fit at the site plus another vehicle. Once we arrived, there were obvious difficulties that were not revealed on the website. When we arrived at the campground we found a site that could accommodate the length of our 29 ft. trailer; however, due to the rock/cement barrier walls that surrounded every site, backing into the reserved site was a NIGHTMARE. Be advised that there are 20" - 36" high rock/cement retaining walls that extend all the way out to the driving lane of the loops. Most of these are at 85-90 degree angles to the roadway, making it very hard to back into sites. Also note that the sites are pretty close together AND the loops are one-way and narrow, so that affects maneuverability. Regarding the width of the site, once we were in place and our single slide was out, there were about 2 feet of clear space on both sides of the trailer. After a nice time exploring the dunes and trails, we left a day early so that we could GET OUT OF THE SITE before a new camper arrived at the site directly across from ours. READ CAREFULLY and expect it to be a challenge to get into your site if you have a trailer over 20 feet in length. This campground was constructed in the 1930's when RV's were a lot smaller.

Camp sites are short and leveling is tricky but the dunes, Medano Creek, hiking and quiet beauty make it all worthwhile! We had perfect temps, no wind and met other friendly campers!

Stayed here mid April, before the crowds of summer rolled in. Great views of the dunes from our campsite and trailheads within the campground. Bathrooms were being worked on so we didn’t have access to them, but porta potties were there for use. I would stay here again.

Overall a wonderful experience! We would definitely stay here again. Bathrooms were clean, water was near the site, and the Dunes are so much fun! Two reasons for the 4 stars instead of 5. 1) the sites are so close to each other. The site next to us had about 8 people at it and they were so loud the entire time. 2) the bear boxes really need to be sprayed for spiders. We had 4 spiders (that we saw) and 2 spider egg nests in our bear box. Idk why they think I’d put my food in there ??.

In July prepare for mosquitoes. Hiking on the dunes was really spectacularly fun. The camp store had everything, including ice cream making an evening walk extra fun.

Great sites, very clean.
Awesome being so close to the dunes.

The driveway at site 073, Loop 2 was not as wide as I thought it would be in the pictures, and we struggled to fit a camper van and a car. We would have really been in trouble if we'd both rented vans as originally planned! It did have an awesome view of the dunes, though, and the campsite itself was fantastic. I highly recommend it (just don't try to fit two vans there haha).
