The setting was beautiful but the mosquitoes were large and vicious. We stayed in loop A one night and loop B the second night. In both areas there were campers that didn't follow the quiet hours. I'm glad we stayed there but I wouldn't stay there again.

We had an amazing time! Our site #71 had a view of the dunes, and a copse of trees near it for afternoon shade. The bathrooms were clean, the staff friendly, and the camp store adorable. The open landscape was great for solar, and there were some trails nearby. H8ghly recommend

Sand dunes are very unique, definitely worth a visit. Camp sites are mostly small, so don't plan on a big rig at all. Bathrooms were clean and nice.

Clean restrooms. Sites were not posted with reservation information, apparently relying on the park policy that sites are only available through advance reservation. This creates the potential problem of someone arriving and occupying a site, thinking it is vacant or unreserved.

It was delightful. Next time, I'd reserve at least 2 nights to really enjoy the area.

IT was surprisingly nice at our campsite. Lots of fun, but hard work, climbing the sand dunes- we went early before it got to hot. Quiet at night, people were friendly, site was as expected.

Mosquito infestation. I feel like you should be warned or offered a citronella candle. We couldn’t step outside the tent without being swarmed. The trails were covered in mosquitoes too.

The bathroom was exceptionally clean. I wish there were a shower, but I'm not taking a star off for that. I'm taking a star off just because the sites are pretty close together, so it doesn't feel very private, and not all have flora for shade or wind protection. The flip side of that, of course, is they're getting more people/sites into the campground, which means we got a site when we might not have if there were fewer sites. NB: there was really only space for one tent (which is what we had), and it's on the prepared flat spot with the picnic table and firepit, not on the "ground." Again, it worked great for us, but for a family with multiple tents, I don't know where the second tent would (comfortably) go.

We loved the location of the Pinon Flats Campgrounds. It is so convenient for accessing the Great Sand Dunes. The campsite was clean and booking was easy. We would go back again and hopefully the restrooms construction will be completed.

Perfect setting our site was a good view of the sand dunes.
Site 71 has lovely expansive views of the mountains and dunes, and has nice open space on one side (if you like to have fewer neighbors). It is, however, very sunny, so bring a shade tent or try site 70 just across the lane, which still has great views but lots more shade. Overall, super cool campground - gorgeous scenery, amazing access to dunes, lovely wildflowers, deer strolling everywhere, and livable bathrooms (but bring your own soap and hand towels)!
The campsites are well laid out and clean. Bathrooms are nice as well. Views of Dunes and surrounding areas are spectacular. I’d book again in a heartbeat.

Nice views of the dunes, level site and clean bathrooms.

There were limited spaces because of a number of my favorite campsites being closed due to potential rockfall, but even then, getting to camp in Chaco Canyon is special. The hosts were very good.

Beautiful campground. Hiked the overlook trail and it was great. Nice facilities. Bear boxes for food were great.
