Beautiful campground nestled in the woods above Great Sand Dunes. Nice easy hiking trails from the campground give another beautiful view of the Dunes and the San Luis Valley.

Very nice campground right in the park. Everything was in very good condition. Bathrooms were spotless, some of the best I have seen at a campground. Has flush toilets and running water. Nice level areas for tent set up.

Friends have said visiting in the Spring is great. I would not recommend Summer. The flies and mosquitoes were unbearable. I had to put ear plugs in to keep them out of my ears just to set up camp. The campground is paved, but they didn’t bother to level the sites…at all. Leveling our Minnie Winnie took longer than it ever has. And, for some reason, they decided to build short concrete and rock walls around everything. We couldn’t even get the four chairs to sit together. And the site is small. We almost could not park our Jeep next to the rv. The wind was blowing the sand and pelting our legs so hard we couldn’t walk to the dunes. We will not return, but we did check it off the list.

Found out bathrooms would be unavailable only shortly before our stay. Otherwise a very nice campground.

The camp sites have some good views to the Dunes and they are neat with shade in many of them. Many hikes and nature trails available. We really enjoyed it there.

A VERY cramped campground! Feels kinda like you're on top of each other, the best part is the views of the dunes from many sites and the hiking options right from camp itself.

What I hated we seeing in occupied campsites. The system would be better if you did not show by 12 pm on the second day you forfeit your reservation and it becomes bookable agin.people who do t cancel their reservation should be banned.

I didnt get the chance but I heard several people talking about zap of falls. How beautiful they were and how its a must visit. From the campgrounds in my opinion youve got a hike out there in the wilderness and camp out for at least one night. Its absolutely beautiful!

Park rangers very friendly and are actively working to preserve the quality of the sites.Don't take your dog on to the sand during and if you do, bring booties and plenty of water. Too many people having to carry their animals out.

There are many great hikes besides the dunes.
