One of the nicest campgrounds Ive ever visited. The trail from camp leads directly to the Dunes. Running water with sinks and toilets, no showers. They were kept very clean. Very grateful for our National Parks and all of the Parks staff.

Decent campsite, this one is slightly smaller in site, perfect for smaller vehicles. Good tree shade. Restrooms wete super clean! Good signal. There was wind and rain during the night, which is part of the fall experience, but woke up to a beatiful sunrise with great view of the dunes with no footprints yet!

Nice campground roomy, plenty of shade, good pad for pitching tent, clean restrooms, quiet for the most part (I was there on a Tuesday and Wednesday, weekends may be different). A doe and her young wandered through my campsite both mornings and there was lots of birdsong in the morning and evening. The only negative was the RVer on the other loop that had to run his generator relatively early both days. I was awake, reading and enjoying morning coffee, but the generator shattered the morning calm. Guess they are more concerned with modern conveniences than morning peacefulness! Oh well.

It was a pleasant experience tent camping in the campground. The shade at our site was very much appreciated. The campground and facilities were clean and well maintained. The only down side is that we could not purchase any firewood during our visit in late September.Being able to explore the dunes later and camp close to revisit early morning while not hot was great. The later checkout made the last day easier.

Beautiful campground in the area of the great sand dunes and we saw deer, wild turkey and chipmunks passing through our spot! Loved it

Pinon Flats was a beautiful site, with lots of tree enclosed sites that leave you with privacy but connection to the various other campers laughter. Especially loved the heated bathrooms with below freezing temps.

Great campground. Well marked sites, fire rings, great restrooms. Good proximity to the dunes, only about 10 minute walk down the trail through the campgrounds. Beautiful place, highly recommended

Conveniently arranged and beautiful campsite included shade, ample tent pad and a bear box for food storage. The camp store was well stocked with necessities. Didn't realize until afterward that anchoring hammocks to trees is not allowed, but I'd forgotten my hammock at home, so it ultimately didn't matter. Great location! Will camp here again.

Nice quiet campground for visiting Great Sand Dunes NP. Nice to have a huge Bear box to store food. But I really wish there was a place to eat within the park and a concession stand to rend "sand boards" instead of that one place outside the park entrance.

This is officially the nicest National Park campground I've been to! Nice campsites (though somewhat close together) with plenty of trees and space, operational bear-proof food lockers, running water and clean bathrooms, easy access to the park's activities, and gorgeous stars at night; what else do you need?

Loop 2 space 54 was nearly perfect. Just the right amount of sun and shade for a mid May trip. Clean space and across from the very clean restrooms. Highly recommend it.

Site 54 was outstanding- good shade from the trees, flat spot for the tent, close to the restroom (for those of us who need to go in the middle of the night), and on the outside of the loop. We did hear kids from a group campsite one day, but otherwise it was pretty quiet.

Special thanks to the maintenance staff and the other campers in the area. We all kept the bathroom very clean. I was super impressed! This campsite is next to a stream. Unfortunately, the stream was completely dry in July. I would have been nice to camp next to running water. If you want a view of the dunes from your campsite, I believe the campsites in the 80s and 90s have a view of the dunes.

Great campground! Clean bathrooms and amazing views of the dunes. The camp store was the best.

Pinon Flats is a great campground within walking distance of the dunes, you can even see the dunes from many of the campsites! Beautiful location, clean campground and facilities. Something to note is that the outside campgrounds are much less wind protected, so those sites are much windier. We ended up switching to a site on the inner loop as the outside one was too windy for us.

Very nice spot, more than enough room for a 4 person tent. Only down side was the bathroom lights were very bright and being so close our site never got dark.

Incredible views. It was HOT in August. Look for shaded sites. 54, 55 and 56 all large with shade. Some spots have great views of the dunes. One of our favorite spots so far.
