This site had a very gorgeous view of the dunes. Shade in the morning and late afternoon. The restrooms were impressively clean, no towels though so bring your own. Fairly easy access to the dunes. This was one of the best campgrounds/campsites of my summer!

This is such a great campground overall. Clean, well maintained, and immediately adjacent to the dunes. This campsite is centrally located on Loop 2 and has tons of space to spread out. The shared bathrooms and dumpsters are nearby, but we didnt find the foot traffic or noise to be an issue. Excellent spot overall.

This campground is exceptionally well maintained and so convenient to access the sand dunes. The sites themselves are thoughtfully laid out and many offer privacy and shade. The facilities were literally cleaner and nicer than any campground Ive been in. Use the Dune Trail straight from the campground to head out to the sand. Its a beautiful walk, less crowded than the day use area and you can get to dunes faster than the main entrance. If youre visiting in the summer plan to check out the dunes first thing in the morning while it is cool. The sun and heat are intense during the day. You can also go out there at night which is spectacular with clear skies! Zapata Falls is a short drive away and is a nice option during the heat of the day- its an easy one-mile hike to the water. Plan to get your feet wet and bring the kiddos and dogs so everyone can cool off.

Only established campground within the park. Clean bathrooms, portable water. Camp store on site accepts electronic pay. Some sites are bigger than others. Read descriptions of individual sites carefully.

Spent the night camping and had a great time. Everything was clean and well cared for. I booked the spot before construction was announced for the bathrooms, so watch out for those areas if the construction is still ongoing. Otherwise a great park to camp.

My family and friends were disappointed the kids werent allowed to use their scooters in the campground. The weather was cold and windy, and it would have been so nice to have an activity they could share together. Not sure why scooters are banned, and bike are ok? Both have brakes. Big bummer!

Really enjoyed hiking ~12mi up Lake Como Road to view Blanca, Little Bear, and Ellingwood Point 14ers from the 2nd highest lake. Still a bit of fall color hanging on at lower elevations. Also marveled at Zapata Falls - a very short and easy hike, 1mi round trip. Dogs had a fantastic time walking around the base of the Dunes. Bathrooms were well maintained. However, camp store was closed most week days due to end of season, and this should have been publicized better. Overall, awesome trip for 2 people, 2 dogs, and 2 tents! Would love to return!

It is worth waking early and climbing high dunes to watch the sun rise!! Prepare for a temperature swing and bring plenty of water to drink.

The best campground I’ve ever been to! The amenities are excellent - REAL flush toilets and a sink to wash dishes. Every campsite has its own parking, fire pit, and locker. You have views of the dunes from most sites (loop 1 has the best views) but we were on loop 2 and could still see them. Our site was right near the bathrooms and we were worried about odor but it was no issue at all. Cannot recommend this site enough!!

We LOVE the Sand Dunes! The campgrounds were clean and neat and had more amenities than we expected. There is a small store for firewood and items we may have forgotten. We were thankful to know it was right there just in case. So great to have a campfire and enjoy the ambiance each evening and morning. Thank you for making our time at the Dunes so memorable.

I liked that the campground was fairly small and that there was adequate space between sites, with trees for some privacy. Also, I was surprised at the number of tent-campers, and we only saw one large RV. The bathrooms were clean. Everything seemed well-planned. We hope to come back.
