The campground offers beautiful views of the dunes. Things were well cared for. The restrooms were very clean and trash was collected regularly. An added bonus is the beautiful sunsets!

We stayed there for two nights in early August, in my opinion, this is the best time for camping in the Sand Dunes National Park, temperature was mild and perfect for camping. Our overall experience was amazing. Almost all of the campsites have view of gorgeous sand dunes, we stayed at #45, loop 2 which also has view of dunes. The dunes are only minutes walk from the campsite. There are flush toilet as well which are few minutes walk from most of the campsites. We strongly recommend and plan to stay again.

It'd be nice if they had showers. The store outside the park has nice showers for $10. The spot was nice. Clean. Bathrooms were nice and clean. Rangers were friendly. Noise was a bit of an issue sometimes near group camp. But I was so high that nothing could bother me. Great park. Good campground.

This was our first time camping and it went really well! It was beautiful and private. The bathrooms were super clean, and there is a store that sells provisions right before you enter the park. They close kind of early (like 4 or 5) but they had everything you might need, and forgot. We would definitely go back.

Site 45 was comfortable, close to restrooms, sheltered, and convenient to the dunes. The pad fits 2 backpacking tents with a bit of room to navigate. Did not get to see the store.

Really enjoyed our quick one night here. Right next to the camp store and restrooms were clean and nearby. Very nice spot. Would come back for sure

The campground is beautiful, especially the pinon trees. The Montville Nature Trail, easily accessible from the campground, is lovely and makes a nice leg stretch after traveling. It's worth picking up the explanatory brochure, which is well done and adds a lot of interest to the short hike.My only complaint with the campground is the mess I found when I arrived at my reserved site: trash in the fire ring, a half-burned petroleum "log" beside the fire ring, and orange peels and bits of paper and foil on the ground. There were sticky spots and food remnants all over the picnic tabletop and benches, as well as on top of the big bear box. I had nowhere to set my things until I cleaned it up.I think the campsites should be cleaned between paying guests.

Pinon Flats is the nicest and cleanest campsite I have ever been to. The bathrooms are stellar with several stalls and minimal flies. We stayed in site 45, which is directly across from the camp store where you can buy items you might have forgotten, firewood, or a cold ice cream treat. This was also the most secluded site in my opinion. We had a view of the sand dunes and walked to the dunes by way of the dunes trail from the campground after dinner. It was a bit windy on the dunes, but not very busy at that time of day and we saw several deer along the way. The sunset was incredible as we headed back to our campsite. There was a light breeze making it a very enjoyable time and not too hot. The rangers were present and helpful if anything was needed. Nothing could have made our stay any better and we are already planning to go back next year.

Beautiful park! Hit the dunes early before the wind and heat crank up!

Friendly staff and nice camp site. Easy access to the Dunes. The surges of Medano creek were awesome.

Great campground, the campsites are offset enough to make them private, and there are lots of large pinyons to provide shade. Clean bathrooms and easy access to trails from the campground. Very enjoyable camping experience. There is a small camp store that provides ice, ice cream and other small camping goods if you forgot something, very friendly. Its clear that some sites in the campground are rather small. These are great for a single tent and private, but not much room for a large family tent. Other sites are quite roomy so be sure to look closely at online photos.
