Honestly one of the very nicest campgrounds we have visited in Colorado. Clean, heated washrooms with flush toilets, solid Bear boxes and Bear-proof trash containers, and good soft platforms for our tents. Just a very enjoyable campground across the board. Highly recommend.

Beautiful campsite. Most sites had a nice view. Friendly park rangers and staff. I loved the bear lockers for nighttime clean up.

No privacy at any campground it seemed like, the spots were packed in very closely. You will also have to pay $25 to enter the park before you get to the campground, and rather than having firewood available from the camp host they had a camp store. I was excited about the idea until we realized they were only open from 4pm until 7pm and the firewood was more expensive than any campground we had been too. You’re better off stoping at the Oasis store before you enter the park for firewood. The bathrooms are stall style (3) and “require a mask for entry regardless of vaccination status” (I saw no one wear a mask), there are 2 sinks but they don’t offer soap or paper towels... The fire rings are short (About 6 inches tall) and our grill was not adjustable - on the fire or nothing. We also watched the embers settle on the surrounding desert brush so that was exciting. Overall our stay here was not a good experience. The campground had bad vibes and inconvenience after inconvenience and they want money for absolutely everything you do, you’re better off camping at Zapata Falls up the road for $11 per night. We stayed there the last night of our trip and had a wonderful experience - however there is no firewood offered here, the camp host was not around so it’s up to you to be responsible there.

Beautiful. Spot #15 was amazing along the lake. Best camping spot we’ve ever had. Just didn’t get more beautiful than this. No water or dump station, but just stop at Vallecito Resort, they were very friendly. Caught trout (go deep with work or power bait, no bobber), rented a pontoon boat at the Marina, and did some horseback riding at Over The Hill Outfitters… couldn’t have been a better time. Majestic lake and not too busy, even over 4th of July.

Great campground. Nice trails, one leading to the dunes and another to a really great overlook of the dunes. The dunes are fabulous! Make sure to bring all of your supplies including filling up your car with gas before heading out there! There are no showers which would have been really nice. It also got really windy while we were there in the evenings.
