Great experience! Facilities were clean and the staff Rangers were very nice and helpful. We had lots of wildlife around (deer, turkeys, coyotes) which made the trip even more fun. We had a great view of the dunes from our site and easy hiking trails to the dunes.

Very well maintained and managed campground. Campsites are a little close for my preference, but otherwise well worth the stay.

Great campground. Sites are well spaced and fairly private. Appreciate the tent pads. Hiked on the dunes - it was really windy. Be prepared for this with glasses, face covering, hat. Hiked the trail to Dunes Overview. Wonderful.

Nice campground. Some campsites have parking spaces that have a slope, so bring levelers if you need them. Restrooms were nice, although you need your own soap and towel.

Beautiful campground with the stunning views of the sand dunes just behind. Bathrooms are clean and very nice. We greatly enjoyed our stay!

Beautiful campground and very clean and quiet...except for the generator that ran for about an hour after we arrived. One note...during our visit, early April 2023, the restrooms were closed and there were no hand washing stations provided as the email stated that we received only a week prior our visit.

The Pion Flats campground was great - amazing views and nice trails to the dunes. It was a bit cold and started snowing when we went hiking in the morning so pack warm! The bathrooms were warm and well kept.

Beautiful campgroundSomething needs to be done to address all the no shows- campground was marked as full, but 2/3s of sites were no shows. Maybe a deposit system?

Clean, quiet, and a perfect place to find adventure. We came here on the start of our week long journey to several parks. We camped for 2 nights. Site 24 was awesome and we were able to park our campervan with an unobstructed view of the dunes. We hiked out 3 times, rented sand boards for one day (make sure you wax them up often as this will make a huge difference!), and were able to cool our toes in Medan creek after the hot sun. Visitors center has a nice informational and educational display. Park Rangers were kind and helpful, as always. Tip: If camping be sure to book far out in advance. I watched their availability calendar and was able to book the first window they opened availability, but many of the sites were already reserved. Loop 1, west side has the best views, but some are obscured by trees.

Dunes are incredible. Go early in the summer, or late evening as the sand gets HOT. Be aware of your pets paws too. Zapata falls was gorgeous.

Loop 1 on the outside overlooking the Dunes is the way to go. Yes sites are close to each other but campers should be neighborly to each other as the world disconnects. Excellent restrooms are a plus!!!!

The site was beautiful, absolutely stunning. My only complaint was our neighbors who were noisy until 11:30 pm. Luckily our toddler (whos usually a little sleeper) slept through it. I complain because quiet hours are to start at 10pm otherwise I know the noise is loud until then.

This campground doesn't have much privacy. Sites are close together and there is no enforcement of quiet hours. Not the place to stay if you are looking to get away and relax.
