Great stay here even with the shutdown ongoing. Bathrooms were clean, however one of the two sinks in the woman's room didn't work, there was no hand dryer and the soap ran out at one point. The camp store wasn't open but it seemed it may have been unrelated to the shutdown. It's a windy area but our site was relatively protected from the worst of the wind. Our site was very close to the start of the Medano primitive road so there were more vehicles driving past than expected, but it wasn't too disruptive. Beautiful views, mule deer wandering through our site, and lots of fun to be had on the dunes.

The specific spot had a great view of the dunes and mountains. Sites are a bit close to each other here, but the view is worth it.

Fantastic site with nice old trees to help with wind block, but also nice views of the dunes. The bathrooms were the cleanest Ive ever seen at a campground! Water spigots were plentiful and had great pressure so it didnt take long to fill large camp jugs. The one minor note is that two cars and two large tents would be very tight. Smaller backpacking tents would be fine.

An overall nice campground but the sites are a bit close to each other. The bathrooms were poorly maintained. No had soap for the two days I stayed there. The price should be lowered if you can't/don't want to maintain them.

Enjoyed the silence on our site (might be different, when it's fully booked. Had quite windy conditions. Be prepared to (be able to) fix your tent well. Watch: no soap in restroom!

We managed to find a last minute reservation - site 26. It was amazing with a fantastic view of the sand dunes. The site was close to the restrooms/dishwashing station. We happened to arrive during monsoon season, but it is such a magical place that the rain was no bother. The rain cleared out in the morning and we were able to explore the dunes in the morning. The campground itself is well kept despite its large size. Most sites are fairly close together with RVs and tents intermixed. Be prepared to hear generators if youre a tent camper. The cool thing about monsoon season is the seasonal river separating the dunes from the campground had water. We saw deer and might have heard a bear amble through camp at night. Luckily, there are bear boxes to store everything.

What a cool place! Campground was great, especially the sites on the west side of Loop 1 and some sites at the farthest end of loop 2. They have great views of the dunes as well as some other sites like 10 and 11. It was quite cold and snowy May 21 and the heated bathrooms with running water were very welcome. Only complaint was the camp store was not open whenever Id check (posted hours were 2-8pm, different from website but still not open then). I would have liked to buy wood but it wasnt a big deal. My Site 26 only had neighbors on one side and across the road. There was good tree cover which helped a lot with wind. Big level tent pad. I would choose this site again!

Such a great location! We had an awesome site that was on the outer edge of the campground and looked down over the dunes. Great shade from the trees, a nice fire pit, flat tent site, and picnic table. The bear box was perfect for storing all our food and other items. Very easy to get around the park from here, I highly recommend!

Keep it up, its a great family campground, though I do miss the old first come first serve sites. Thank you.

Walking on the dunes in the full moonlight is a magical experience, but viewing them from the campgrounds in that same glow is a transcendent experience and one that I am recommending to all my friends. I am already planning my next trip during a new moon to experience It with a dark sky. This is a very special place that everyone should experience...

We enjoyed our 2nd wedding anniversary and had the most magical time. Amenities were on point. Roads will maintained. Camp site area was small and close to others. Views forever!

Great view of the dunes and nice to be able to walk from site to the dunes. Tent pad level. Picnic table, bathroom, dishing washing acceptable or slightly better than average. Very nice, strong water pump on concrete pad. Great for washing off sand!!!!Beware of chipmunks, they actually went into our suv to steal food.

Loved the view, everything was clean. Thank you. We had a herd a mule deer walk past our camp site with the sand dunes in the background...what a view!
