Campsite was well maintained and really close to dune and other trail access. Restrooms were clean and it was easy to refill water. Overall it was a really relaxing and pleasant experience and I'd definitely stay there again!

Excellent view of the dunes from this site and close to the restrooms as well. Sand sledding was fun, make sure you bring plenty of water with you as there is lots of walking. Phone service was sporadic with AT&T, but that wasn't a bad thing while on vacation.

Campsites and bathrooms are kept in immaculate condition. New visitor center displays are well done. Picnic areas in the aspens were a colorful delight to use on our check out day to extend our time in the park.

Excellent facilities. Relatively quiet after 10PM. Lots of gnats and mosquitoes.

This is a nice campground. Our particular site (23) and the sites on the far end of loop 1 are exposed to long stretches of open area which makes for incredible winds. Our high quality tent we have used for 100's of camping days even got a small rip. Next time I would chose a different part of the campground.

The campground is nicely laid out and trees created some shelter from the wind (which was not too bad when I arrived late afternoon, but picked up during the night). It was wonderful to be so close to the dunes, with trails leading out from the campground.

Problem: This NPS property does not supply either soap or sanitizer fluid in the bathrooms in the campgrounds. It is not alone. There are a few campgrounds that do not provide this-- Acadia NP is another--- short-sighted and foolish and aggravating.Problem: during the high fire weather alerts this week the rangers have been absent in the campgrounds instead of keeping an eye on the people who elect to start a campfire even when winds are above 25 MPHProblem: The rangers have posted a red neon sign not far from the south end of the campground warning about a road closure. That sign was visible in many campsites at least until midnight--- interrupting the night sky experience...It could also be seen clearly a long long way south from the installation site.Problem: If you book a campsite opposite from the bathroom house such as site 15 or 16 in loop # 1 you will have a glare of light from the bathroom long into the night--- again providing unnecessary annoying light.

Nice campground with great views and not too noisy. Easy check in and no confusion! 10/10

You wake up, you walk out of your tent/rv/van, you drink water, you eat your breakfast, you go out to the dunes. Clean, have bear lockers, unique views. Restroom is a plus, they are not portapotties but flush ones.

Fantastic night skies (new moon). Clean campsite and rest rooms. Hiked to the High Dune. Quite a bit of wind one evening starting about 6 pm and lasting through 2:30 am the next morning.

One of the best campgrounds we have ever been to. Given that you're starting at a really high standard, being located between the sand dunes and the mountains. The camp host was the best camp host we have ever had. Not exaggerating at all! He was so helpful! Our baby ended up getting an ear infection the night before we checked out. We had to drive to Alamosa to go to an urgent care clinic which set us back like 3-4 hours on our scheduled plan. When we got back to camp we let the host know we would need just a little more time before we left and he was so understanding and shared his own experience with babies, illness and travel.

We stayed in the first loop at site 23 - we were close to the bathroom and dish sink! We used the camp store that was open from 2-7p.m. every day. We camped during the week, so we didn't get to take advantage of any of the evening ranger programs.

We look forward to coming back!

We had a great site, and was relieved to have access to flush toilets. We came on some windy days, so the dunes were pretty harsh, yet still amazing. We would have loved to do more dune hiking, but it just wasn't in the cards, this time. We tried to head over to Smith Reservoir for some fishing, but the whole thing was completely dried up; so, something to keep in mind. We still thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and left with wonderful memories.

Top notch tent sites and scenery. Could be improved if hot showers were added to facilities.
