The only complaint regarding my campsite was the levelness of the site for my motorhome. I used all of my leveling blocks and I could not even get close to making my unit level. Everything else was great, even the bathrooms!!!

The camps sites were wonderful! We had a wild turkey join us at our camp site as well as mule deer. The pinion pines smelled fantastic. The sand dunes blew us away with their size and depth. Unbelievable site! We loved camping at Pinion Flats.

Lots of mosquitos this year. Bring plenty of repellent

We loved our sites for 3 nites, loved our view of the dunes, appreciated the clean bathrooms so much. But the mosquitoes were unbelievable and made 8 people & 2 dogs very cranky and bit up. We all used up 3 cans of spray and it didnt touch the mosquitoes.

This is a spectacular campground. Our site had beautiful views of the dunes and the mountains and the large pinion trees provided some shade. The campground is near the river/beach and walk into the dunes though it is still a bit of a hike with a gradual uphill all the way back but people have the option of driving to the park's parking lot for a shorter hike. There are also great hikes around the area. For RV/trailers, our site was quite sloped and we had to get creative to level the trailer.

Lovely and gorgeous destination campsite! We did not realize how long the entrance road would be, so definitely would recommend getting gas before heading into the park for peace of mind. Our 27 travel trailer and truck fit into the back-in spot snugly but perfectly fine (with a bit of maneuvering of the tree next door). The end of September weather was sunny in the day and chilly at night for a comfortable stay. We had a few nice walks into the sand dunes and will forever cherish our time!

The campground and campsite were great! Super clean spaces with great views. All rangers and hosts were very friendly. Only downside was the ferocious wind at night, but that's just part of the experience. Would highly recommend, the Sand Dunes are well worth it!

Excellent campground with perfect access to the dunes, and a great primer for desert camping overall. The site we stayed at (019) has absolutely no shade so make sure you plan activities away from the campground during the day. The place is also Mosquito Central (at least in July) so bug spray or (better yet) a screened pavilion are highly recommended. The bathrooms are newly remodeled - would be nice to have soap and hand dryers available.

Pinon Flats is a beautiful, well-kept campground. We've visited four times over the past five years. We camped with a travel trailer this time and it was easy

Monitor wind conditions before heading up the dunes. Campground was clean and well run.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Great Sand Dunes. The campground is clean and well maintained. The proximity to the dunefield is easy. The views of the sand dunes and Sangre De Cristo Mountains are spectacular. We hiked the dunes as well as the Mosca Pass Trail to explore the surrounding forested area. This is a wonderful national preserve that we are so thankful to have to explore and enjoy.

Stayed at camp site 19, it was not as cramped as some of the others. Busy campground but the views make it worth it.
