Beautiful spot in a beautiful place! Site 15 has the equivalent of a parallel parking spot, so it is best for those with smaller vehicles. The tent pad is up two steep steps, but is flat and large. This spot has nice shade in the afternoon, at least in mid-May. Each spot comes with a fire ring, picnic table, and bear box.

Was hoping for nice early May weather, but we got a snowstorm instead. That's Colorado! This is a beautiful campsite and it doesn't have one of those hateful, tiny, timber-ringed tent pads that plague those of us with bigger tents. However, our Nemo 6 person Aurora was pretty cramped between the fire ring and picnic table (we pushed the table a foot backward to have room). With the snowstorm, we never lit a fire but I am not sure it would have been safe since the tent was so close. Still, we DID fit and it wasbeautiful. The bathrooms were nice and there is a walking path down to the dunes. You can buy firewood at the lodge, restaurant and store just outside the park.

The dunes were magical as my daughter said! Our spot was perfect and the bathrooms were so well maintained! Couldnt have asked for anything more.

Nice campground with water and bathrooms with flushing toilets. Mosquitoes were brutal beginning of August. A deer walked through our campsite - so cool!

One of the best campgrounds Ive had the pleasure of staying at. Easy parking and accessible campsites that were relatively flat. The bathrooms were clean and modern. Only downside were the mosquitoes but I will only suggest people bring bug spray or mosquito netting. The bear boxes were located close to the site and the parking area making everything convenient. It was also an easy walk to the sand dunes from the campsite.

This was my first time staying at Pinon Flats Campground at The Great Sand Dunes and I will be returning! The campsite (#15) was spacious, flanked by juniper trees, and with a nice flat spot for my tent. It had a bear box, which I used to store food supplies. The picnic table was large and securely mounted to the ground. There was also a fire ring, which I did not use on this trip but is a welcome addition. This site is directly opposite the bathroom, which has flush toilets, and the water spigot. There was nothing to block views of neighboring campsites and the campground was full and so.ewhat loud during my stay. The dune trail was walking distance from my site. When I stay here again, I will select a site closer to the dunes.

Campsites were great and our site had room for 2 medium sized tents for 5 people. The bear boxes at each site are a great add as well. The dunes exceed my expectations and we had fun crossing the river on foot as it was flowing while we were there. The main visitor center was under construction so we were not able to see much there (Aug 2022). The nature trail down the road is a must see. A short hike but really nice.

Got lucky and found 2 nights open at Pinon Flats a week away from my travel date. The campground is very nice, with clean restrooms and available water. Pretty quiet as well, with only a few generators running while we were there. And of course the dunes are magical. Looking forward to returning soon!

Too many mosquitoes but the campsite and dunes were outstanding. We took the 4-wheel drive road up to the second site. Kids had a great time.

Great campground with easy access to the dunes. Even tho the campground was full, we never felt crowded. Wish the visitors center was back to full operation, but enjoyed what we could.

Great Sand Dunes National Park was amazing and the campground was great. It was quiet and the bathrooms were nice.
