Bathrooms were clean and warm. The site had everything we needed.

Wonderfully maintained campsites. Clean, flush toilet bathrooms. An outdoor sink, bear safe trash receptacles, food lockers, a fire pit, and a nearby camp store (the hours vary). We had a great 2 days here!

Three steps up to site were small and cockeyed. Table was not on level ground.

Good facility, convenient toilet and camp composition.

Clean bathrooms and some spots are nice and secluded. However, camp fires should not be allowed because it makes the air quality very low.

The campground is well run and clean. Most of the campsites have nice shade from Pinon trees. The campground is a short distance from the sand dunes.

Nice flat tent base, clean bathrooms, plenty of space. Bear box at each site. Nice to be able to wake up early and go straight to the sand dunes when its still cool or late in the evening and enjoy the dunes at night.

The bathrooms were clean and great with running water and soap and everything. Our site, 13, had excellent shade and some protection from the wind. There were a lot of bugs, so come prepared.

Great campsite! As other reviewers have said theres only one campsite behind but nobody to either side. Close but not too close to the bathrooms. We were told at the visitor center if we could fit two cars in the spot without sticking in the road than it was fine - we did some Jenga and got both in (small cars though). April was a great time to be at Great Sand Dunes.

Just about the nicest camping experience you can have

Amazing spot, has a little bit of a view of the dunes. But it has amazing shade throughout the day. Close to two bathrooms. Parallel parking spot was skinnier than others. Tougher to accommodate larger vehicles but could still make it work. Very close to the camp store if you need anything from there. No neighbors on left and right due to terrain but one neighbor behind. Very private feeling due to this. Close to dunes trail.

This was our 3rd visit to Great Sand Dunes National Park and our first stay at the Pinyon Flats campground. We were lucky enough to snag a site with morning shade (#13). The bathrooms in Loop 1 were recently updated. Be sure to take the short nature trail in addition to enjoying the dunes.

Our site was excellent, shaded at the right time. Potable water close by. Rest rooms were clean, no soap dispensers.
Need a gray water wash station. They were all closed at each of the rest rooms near us.
Best box at each site was really convenient.
Pretty mosquitoee, but long sleeves, pants and head netting made it tolerable.
Close to the dunes.

Beautiful location. Great campground. Nice, clean restrooms.
On our particular stay it was super windy with lots of mosquitoes.

Hiking, close campsites, good check in

Great campsite and facilities except no soap or hand sanitizer in the bathrooms (bathrooms have running water which is a plus). Pit toilets at other parks at least have hand sanitizer.
My campsite had a parallel spot which was a tight fit with just a Jeep Cherokee, I can't imagine a larger vehicle fitting. Campsites felt fairly private for the terrain, which was nice.

Beautiful campground and clean - parking space was definitely not for two cars or trucks we stuck out and the reservation and it was clear that we could fit two vehicles - we managed and the camp host gave us free parking at overflow lot but campers prefer to be close to their vehicles.

We have camped at Piñon Flats 5 times now and each time has been great. Rangers are very helpful and regularly make the rounds to ensure campers are keeping areas clean and safe. We usually stay for 3 nights and enjoy the dunes on site, hike the falls and on the way home we always stop at the crocodile farm.

The camp site is small for 2 families of 4 and hardly fits 2 cars. The website states that it fits 8 people and 2 cars.
There isn't even soap for washing hands in the bathrooms. In times of Covid, we expected at least that to be provided.
Besides that the NP is amazing and the site was clean and provide enough shade. We had fun.
