Awesome! Campsite Loop1 site 4. Clean and the restrooms were very clean even though the visit was day 2 and 3 of the shutdown. Everyone pitched in to keep the camp ground safe and clean.

The site I reserved was great. Even had some firewood leftover from the previous campers.

Lots of space between campsites, very clean camp spot and restrooms. Would love to have a shower there but wonderful campground otherwise. Nice views of the dunes.

We had a great time at Pion Flats Campground! Beautiful views of the dunes and mountains made every moment feel special. The campground was clean, well-maintained, and had all the basic amenities we needed for a comfortable stay.

this site has a terrible approach to the picnic area. it would be untenable for older folks or for small children. there are no steps, only a large uneven rock to drop down approximately 2.5 feet. the other two entry ways are not accessible because they are the locations of the camper. one side has a rock wall that may be intended to approach the picnic area, but that is also unsafe and resulted in one of our children slipping and falling, resulting in a gnarly scratch on his knee and bruise on his chest. this entry makes it very hard to efficiently or safely bring things down to the picnic area/bear box as heavy things need to be given to someone already down by the person above. we found it frustrating and nerve wracking. i would not recommend this site to folks with mobility struggles or small children. otherwise it is GREAT! so much shade and a beautiful view.

We absolutely LOVE pion flats campground. They take great care of the sites, bathrooms and surrounding areas. The only complaint I have is that Everytime we have been able to get a reservation 6 months out, there is pretty much only one site available. When we arrive there are many sites (we saw at least 5 sites in just one loop) that were not being used but had been reserved. This is extremely frustrating and I wish they would go back to offering first come first serve sites so that we would be able to visit our favorite campground on a more consistent basis.

Quiet and clean campground. Site had a nice view of the dunes, and some shade, which seemed rare. Tight fit between the trees. Bug spray is a must!

Campground is nicely laid out. Plenty of trees and shade. Bathrooms are being renovated (as of May 2023) but they are going to be nice. Plenty of portalets and hand wash stations. Hiking trails are everywhere and the creek was flowing. Recommend the Dunes overlook trail. Lots of people day trip on the weekends so be prepared! Camp store was small but convenient. Sure, its windy, but thats nature! Bear boxes at every site. Overall, a great experience. We will be back!

The camp sites are too close, my site didnt really have a spot for a tent. It felt really cramped.

Despite how busy it was for October during the week, I was impressed how clean the overall campground and restrooms were. Everyone there camping is was respectful of keeping safe distances and of the quiet times.

Great views of the dunes from our site. If you take dogs make sure you plan to be off the sand around 10am it gets a little hot for their paws.

Check out Gator World if you have time.

We had a great campsite with shade and a view. Sites weren't too close together. Bathrooms were clean with flush toilets. There was a sink for washing dishes near the bathrooms. Great hikes, one day on the dunes and the next on Mosca Pass.
My only criticism was the visitor center was crowded with people and no one wearing masks or physically distancing. Pretty sure 100% of those visitors weren't all vaccinated judging from the license plates in the parking lot.

Great campground! There was a bear in the area so they rangers were very adamant about leaving coolers and food in the bear boxes. The camp host was very friendly and the women’s restroom was clean. You did have to drive to the parking lot of the sand dunes if you wanted to bring shade and coolers out to the dunes. About a 3 minute drive. The mosquitos were brutal so bring all the deet.

Awesome park. Had a beautiful view of the sand dunes from campsite. Very comfortable.
Just wish hot showers were available for those of us camping and not using RVs.

Incredible campsite. Was extremely impressed with how clean (particularly during COVID) and well maintained it was. Near-perfect view of the dunes and watching the sunset while grilling over a camp fire was lovely. Surrounding campsites neighbors were friendly and quiet. We had site 4 loop 1, and was initially a little hesitant about the site as it was one of the last remaining sites and, from the map, right next to the toilets. Turns out that it was a great site - had a view of the dunes and actually a good distance away from toilets, to not be bothered by the noise, but close enough that it was easily accessible. The only downside was that it was somewhat small - not sure how 8 people would have fit; there were only two of us. Can't wait to come back in the future!
