Some of the womens bathrooms werent open. No hand dryers or paper towels in mens bathrooms. Campground is very loud as sites are close together and campers are coming and going at all hours.Otherwise a very nice campground

Overall, this was a very nice campground: awesome views and trails, it was clean, bathrooms were always clean and stocked with toilet paper, every tent site had its own bear box, and the camp store was a nice amenity. One recommendation: some of the RMNP campsites have recycle bins and it would be nice to support that effort. Otherwise, we have no issues hauling out our recyclables.

Most campsites have a little shade which is nice! Also the cleanest bathroom I have ever experienced in a campground.

We had a great time in the Pion Flats campground in mid-July. The weather was surprisingly cool at night. The rangers were helpful. Highly recommend you pick the right kind of site. We have a rooftop tent and reserved a site that did not have a drive-in spot for our vehicle. We made it work, though. We truly appreciated the proximity to the dunes and the beautiful sunsets. Well worth the drive from Denver.

Tent campsites were small. We are not a family but a group of Colorado Mountain Club members of both sexes who do adventure traveling. As such, we frequently have double tents or single tents. The online info stated tent campsites held two tents but on Campsite #6 we had to move the picnic table close to the fire ring to allow sufficient room for the second tent. Our stay during May 1 - 3 experience very high winds but the campground did not have a fire ban. As experienced campers, backpackers and outdoors women we felt that due to high winds campfires within the campground should have been banned.

All the sites are too close together but the area is beautiful and well maintained. Great experience.

So freakin cool. Only booked because it was where we could get campsites but the dunes were awesome! Very worthy of a2 day trip.

Sites were well spaced out for privacy. Trees provided shade and a refreshing scent of pine on every breeze. Elk and mule deer regularly roam the campground.

My only real recommendation is to plan for it to be a little colder at night than you think! Wind chill is real! Additionally, the Dunes are steeper than they look, which can make fighting your way up and down a little difficult. Also, save a day to hike to the overlook!

Impossible to properly set up tent in rocky sites.
