Wheeler is a beautiful, quiet campground and was better than I expected.

Exceeded our expectations. Campground was totally made over. A pleasant surprise for such a remote location.

We hate the reservation system. The first come first serve was the best!! Now people reserve sites they never use and we end up taking one night at a time. STUPID. Especially when the campground is 50% used during week. GBNP is our favorite NP. It is a total gem. We wish at least some sites were non-reserved. Thanks!

7/30 to 7/31/2023; Spacious grounds. Close to great trails including Bristlecone and lakes trails. Trees provide good shade. Two picnic tables. Nice breeze. Lots of dead wood around the area. Bathrooms are not close by. Found a set of keys on site that I'd be glad to mail back. Write a review for this site with contact info.

This campground was beautiful! It didn't feel overcrowded even though the neighbor was not far. At the visitors center, the temperatures were hot! At the campground it was much cooler because it's at a higher elevation, which made for great sleeping temperatures.

Wheeler Peak Campground was delightful. The high altitude resulted in cool temperatures that were a relief after the record heat we have been experiencing in SLC. The restrooms were clean and well supplied with TP. There was not water in the CG, but we knew that was going to be the case. The CG had an "end of the season" feel and many sites were vacant-- I guess Labor Day is still considered the end of the camping season for many. We had a great experience at Great Basin NP!

Beautiful campground. Some sites have two picnic tables attached for bigger groups or for your kitchen on one side. Great access to many trails nearby.

It rained every day I was there (seven days). But it felt good to be in the coolness at high elevation. This is a nice campground. I was elated that there were no fires allowed at this time, and that we were to bring our own water! Good move! I commend the superintendent of this park for putting these restrictions in place.

Wheeler Peak campground is one of the better campgrounds I've been to. It's quiet, scenic, majestic! The park did an excellent job in newly paved roads, aprons and walkways to picnic areas. The cement rock masonry at each campsite is exceptional. Everything has been upgraded including restrooms and animal locking devices on trash bins. I've been here at least a half dozen times over the years and it feels like a new park with all the upgrades. I am looking forward to another return.

This site was great! The only pull Thur spot which was awesome for our pop up camper and no sites on one side just trees. The campground was very quite and clean. The gravel pull through was pretty much level. We had a nice large seating area and we watched deer walk by as we ate dinner. The toilets were good except some of the doors were locked which was annoying, not sure if that was campers or staff. This elevation and campground was quite windy but still nice and for our stay it was 20 degrees cooler than Lehman campgrounds so we loved that! We didnt have any elevation issues at all.
