Despite its sprawling size, Colter Bay never felt crowded. Loop N felt secluded from the other loops, and the individual sites are well-spaced. Site 290 has plenty of space, including a perfect spot, nestled between a circle of trees, for a second tent and hammock. It was better than the actual tent pad, which lacked shade. The pull-through driveway is convenient, and the restrooms and water are close without being too close. There are no views from the site, but its just a quick drive over to the beach and picnic area, as well to the general store and nearby amenities.

We really enjoyed this campground. It was nice and close to everything we wanted to see and do in Grand Teton National Park. I loved that the tent pads were on pebbles so when it rained, the water didn't just sit under the tent and eventually soak in. That was clever and I hadn't seen that before but I loved that! The only thing we didn't like was that it was a shared campground with RV's and one night, someone had a generator on all night. It was quite annoying and impeded with our ability to sleep well or hear the songbirds in the morning. Bear lockers were gracious in size and firepits had a grate you could put over to grill. Overall, we enjoyed it!

Our tent sites were nice and level and easily accessible. However, both nights we were there (on different sites) we had very loud neighbors and the smoke from the campfires was unbearable. We were very surprised with the fire warnings that fires were allowed.

We loved our campsites. We had a 20ft RV Van and it fit perfectly in our tent campsite. The day use areas were great! lots of parking even though it did fill up by early afternoon. I really liked being able to rent a tandem kayak there. I would like to have been able to rent a Hobie Tandem Island sailing kayak. Having a restaurant and cafe there made it easy to grab food when we didn't feel like cooking it ourselves. I think its a good idea to have the campsite reservation system even though it fills up fast. At least you are assured a campsite if you are able to register for one and can plan the rest of your trip around it.
