The campground is ok but clearly in need of renovation and modernizing. New restroom and shower facilities are needed. Adding more electrical sites and leveling the parking areas in many sites would be a plus. Overall the entire Colter Bay facility needs to be updated.

Very good area facilities but this campsite was inferior to the others I used. It's at two levels on a dusty, lightly vegetated hillside, with little shade. If you have another choice when tent camping, take it.

Site A23 is probably the worst site in the whole campground. While there is a nice pad for a tent the rest of the site was without a single tree for shade and the ground was dried uneven mud. Holes everywhere and fire pit placed on a sloping hillside. Can only put chairs around 2/3 of the pit. Showers are a half mile away in Colter village next to the market and cost $5.00 per shower. Bathrooms are throughout campground and clean enough. Lake and beach are far from Loop A.

We camped at Colter Bay the days before and after our backpacking trip on then Teton Crest Trail. Our campsite was clean and had a perfect spot for our tent and our Eno hammocks. We were walking distance from Colter Bay Village to go to the ranger station, general store, and lake front. The camp site was quite and the bathrooms were nice and clean. Colter Bay was also the perfect location to be far enough north to save some time on the drive into Yellowstone while still being close enough to all we wanted to see in Tetons as well as our launch point for the Teton Crest Trail.Would happily stay here again.

I will prefix this review by making a note that I am a through hiker vs a car camper. Due to inclement weather in the backcountry I played it safe on this visit to Gran Teton and camped at Colter Bay Campground as a backup to my backcountry campsite.I did a ton of research on the best sites (and still could have ended up with a better site I noticed once I arrived at Colter Bay and drove around to look at all of the loops) and my site A23 was still sub bar.The A loop is MUCH better than the lower loops that are treeless and out in the sun and open but it could stiull use (as Loops A through E could use as well) much improvement in setup etc.The main issue is that the sites are entirely TOO close together. I read a few reviews earlier in choosing the A loop that the sites had more space in between them but not sure who or why previous reviewers think this. I would recommend if you are a backcountry hiker who is stuck in Colter Bay Campground due to bad weather in the backcountry etc and you want a bit more space away from other campsites to go ahead and book a site on Loop F. Even though there are cell phone towers on that Loop...so what. The Loop is far away from the masses on the lower loops and you feel at least that you are out in nature in Loop F.

We passed through TNP in mid July 2022 and this was a very nice spot. Firstly, the hosts were so welcoming and helpful. Secondly, Our campsite was in good shape and showers & bathrooms were modern. We had fun biking around the campground with our children and taking a swimming dip in Jackson lake. Highly recommend.

Campground is very well kept, clean bathrooms. There is a good grocery store and laundry\showers facilities. Also, there is a gas station (prices are high). When we came - camp host told us bears came 3 times in previous week. During our stay (4 days) it was quiet and no bears (only squirrels and chipmunks).

Beautiful surroundings, clean campground and campsite. Nice friendly support staff in the campground, grocery store and restaurants. Pizza by the slice was good!

Nice area. Quiet for the most part. Facilities were a bit old but still kept in good condition.

The campground was great! It was quiet, had plenty of signs warning people about behavior towards wildlife and what to do or not regarding smelly things in the campsite. The view of the stars was fantastic and it was close to the backcountry permits post.

The campground was spacious and shady, with flush toilets. We walked down to the shore of Jackson Lake at a pebbly beach, where families where wading and flying kites. We always enjoy a great meal and friendly service at the Ranch House restaurant. We also kayaked in amongst the islands and coves of the Bay.
