Lot 349 has severe slope. Almost froze; No generator use after 10pm on a cold night. Senior park pass holder made reasonal fee of $34.

We loved our stay at Colter Bay. It is truly a unique campground. You basically park on the road and your camp area is down below you in the trees. It was magical. There are no water hookups, but there is a dump station and water area that you could connect to so I recommend coming with your water tank full. There is a trail in the campground right to the lake. We also enjoyed riding our bikes around the campground. Highly recommend. Very peaceful. We saw a deer right in our camp spot.

The location in the national park is Colter Bays by far biggest plus. We stayed in a generator loop (no hookups). Weve got solar, so no biggie. Theyve got dump site and water, so you can certainly disconnect to do that. Howeverthe bathrooms are far from acceptable for the price point. Toilets leaked, two sinks with one missing a mirror, very old. Again, the price point. My biggest hang up was no showers! Sure you can go to the public area and pay $5 per shower but for a family start multiplying that. The sites were the kind where you park parallel to the road, so vehicles passed inches from our camper as they drove out of the loop. We ended up leaving early to go boondock and loved it.

The location is great but the campground is a disappointment for what it costs. The sites are right on top of each other and the pull through areas have no separation from the road. The bathrooms are gross. USFS campgrounds with vault toilets and a good campground host are usually cleaner. Theres a dish sink but no actual cleaning area - it might as well just be a water spigot. Our fire ring wasnt even cleaned out from the previous occupant. The infrastructure is probably 60 years old and has been maintained poorly. We dont require much for camping but given the cost of the sites and high occupancy rate, the revenue this concessionaire must be making annually I would expect more to be reinvested into the facilities.

Can't say enough good things about the campground staff they went way above and beyond to help us fix an equipment problem. Facility itself could use a little more upkeep. Some sites are really hard to level and lots of old bolts embedded in concrete blocks that need to be cleaned up or replaced. Overall a beautiful area to stay.
