We enjoyed our 4-night stay. We were pleasantly surprised how quiet the campground (Colter Bay) is at night (Loop L). Every site is nice and has a wooded area and enough space so you dont feel like you are on top of your neighbor. We appreciated how rangers came through each day to check the sites for trash/food (bears!). The campground is convenient to everything in the parkand within the campground there is the visitor center, a GREAT general store (best place to get a t-shirt) with showers and laundry, a gas station, and dump stations (I think 3)these are all in a separate area from the sites, but close byyou can walk. I recommend taking the boat shuttle one way to hike to Hidden Falls & Inspiration Point and then taking the shore trail back (warning: parking at Jenny Lake can be crowded). The free tour at the fish hatchery was really interesting, and the free docent talk at Murie Ranch was full of interesting history and the impact of a few people. We enjoyed a float in a 12-person boat down the Snake Riverwe recommend you go in the morning to avoid any potential afternoon rains. Also, the daily 8:30 Ranger walk (2 hours) along the shore is a must. Fishing along the shore (or wading) along the Snake River is difficultbetter to float it. You can fish along the creeks (Pacific, Buffalo) and Gros Ventre River and by Oxbow Bend and below the dam. Get a Wyoming fishing license online. This is a majestically beautiful area that is quieter than Yellowstone. We visited at the beginning of July, and we were glad to have our rain jackets with us on our hikesany rain was usually short and tolerable :)

The bathrooms were clean and a short distance from the sites. It rained one night I was there and I appreciated that the tent pad was "uphill."

The campsites are well maintained, fairly spacious and they provide bear boxes at every site. The showers are available at the nearby village center (for a fee) and were open during Covid while the showers at Yellowstone were closed. No generators were allowed in the loop that we camped in (Loop "L").

We love the ability to reserve a camping spot at Colter Bay. Last year we got turned away twice because it was full early in the day.
