Colter Bay campground is a busy area but the tent camping area we were at was great. There were bear safe in each campsite and that helped us take off our load and allowed us to explore around the park. Our campsite was quiet and we enjoyed sitting around the campfire and relax in the cold water. Overall, we had the best time there. Huckleberry ice cream is the best!

Classic NP campground. Nothing special, but clean spaces and potable water on sight.

Everything was great. The only improvement would be that campers keep in thier assigned campsite not in the road and adjacent campsites. It was very hard to maneuver around with the trailer on Loop K not sure about other Loops.

Loop roads are narrow but check in staff make sure you enter the site so that doors are facing the forest not the road. Loops all have path access to the lake and staff recommendation to take a chair and a beverage to sunset was a multiple day winner.

Colter Bay campground continues to provide very good service and an excellent place to camp. The staff are friendly and always helpful. The facilitates though dated are in the best shape they can be, despite some of the idiot campers who cant read signs regarding where to do their dishes. Spaghetti Os DO NOT go in the bathroom sinks people!! There is a camper sink for that! Parents, please teach your kids to flush and not to use enough TP for 5 adults.

This campground was great. There was plenty of space to park my 30 ft trailer and my truck. The campground was very clean and the staff were very polite. The bear box that you are provided is massive, you could put 4 -5 ice chests in there and more. The firepit rings are good size and there is plenty of room for chairs. The generator hours are fantastic and allow plenty of time for us to recharge the batteries. The dump stations were easy to access and the gas station at the front of the campground before you get to the general store had prices comparable to what you would pay in Jackson, not a rip off. For those who have the means to dry camp with a generator, have a towable septic tank, and jugs for freshwater. This is a campground for you.

In the "old" days you would drive into Colter Bay Campground and choose your own site from amongst the over 300 sites. The campground never filled up or, at least, I don't remember it happening. Now, it seems, that we need a reservation system to ensure getting a campsite. If you go on-line the site will tell you it is all booked-up, but as I look around the campgrounds I've stayed in recently, I see a lot of vacant sites. The system is not working folks! Also, it seems to me that the prices for campground fees have doubled, but nothing has been improved. I'll bet that if the powers that be checked, they would find that the increased cost is mostly going to fund the reservation service.
