A great campground in between Gunnison and Crested Butte!! Fresh cold water available at all times that tasted amazing and spacious spots

Camp host very helpful and informative of the area. For me the pull through site was convenient. Enjoyed fishing the river and Taylor reservoir. Have visited the area many times. Thanks.

We've been back to this campground many times. Can't beat being nestled in the lodgepoles 50 yards from the Taylor River!

Great campsites right near the river. Great hearing the sounds of the river while sleeping at night.

Beautiful location, plenty of room between camp sites and roaring Taylor River across the road!

Site #15:
Pro's:
1) very well shaded.
2) Nice fire ring and table.
Neutral:
1) Great spot for fishing. The site is about 14 miles from Almont.
Cons:
1) The whole site is on an incline.
2) Headlights hit the tent throughout the night. Lots of road noise.
3) TOILETS WOULD GAG A MAGGOT OFF A GUT WAGON. These need a serious update.

This is a beautiful campground -- about 90% shaded. Good picnic tables. I would give it 5 stars if it were not so close to the road. (I also wish it had a trail within walking distance -- you really need a vehicle to leave the campground.) However, I did like it better than the other campground nearby because of the shade. We drove 10-15 min north to the Taylor reservoir and rented a boat and used the electric car charger. We also rented an ATV from the store at the north end of Taylor Reservoir and drove on a trail to Tin Cup which was really neat. I recommend renting it for a full day so you have time to have lunch at the cafe in Tin Cup and visit Mirror Lake. We used the dump station between Taylor and Tin Cup. We also hiked a fun trail that leaves from Lottis campground. Kids enjoyed building stepping stones across the water there.

I greatly enjoyed my visit to Lodgepole. The only drawback is its proximity to the highway. My site was less than 25 yards from the highway and there was quite a bit of road noise until after dark. Otherwise, this is a great campground for exploring the Taylor Park region.
