What's not to like? This past 6 day trip to the North Rim Grand Canyon exceeded my expectations. We were there 7 years ago and this was an improvement. There's limited cellular service now, bathrooms in campground have been remodeled and updated. The shower/ laundromat facilities near the registration office have been updated and are much nicer. Really don't have any serious complaints about anything. The number of visitors to the North Rim are only 10 percent of the people who visit the South Rim. This translates to a more serene experience. We've visited both sides and yes, there's more services at the South Rim. They are both worthwhile, but, the North Rim is more relaxing.

This is a fantastic campground and campsite! The sites, at least around the outer edge, are nicely spaced, and site 18 has tons of room. Plus, you can walk 50 feet and youre at the edge of the canyon. I had no problem getting in with our 25 foot trailer, but I definitely recommend that you back in. If you rely on solar, this site has good sun exposure.Theres a trail that takes you over to the area with the lodge and visitor center; its about a mile there, and the trail can be accessed by walking down from the campsite. Theres also a small general store with basic food and supplies at the campground.

Gorgeous site. Very nice campground in a premium location. Good drinking water. Loved it. It was a little hard to get from our campsite to the restrooms without feeling like I was walking through someone else's site, but that's a minor issue and the only one I had.

This was a great site, period. Seconds away from the trailhead, friendly and helpful staff, and overall a great experience. Im coming back as soon as I can, and Im telling everyone I know to camp here as well.

This location is absolutely fantastic. Dramatic views of the canyon, wonderful historic lodge, majestic ponderosa pines, low crowd levels, and refreshingly cooler than the surrounding desert landscapes. A short and amazing hike from the campground to the lodge along the Transept Trail was the perfect start to the day. Breakfast and coffee at the lodge were amazing, and the staff were even better. I hope that I'll be back one day.

Campground was clean and very nice. Ranger who checked us in was helpful and friendly. Convenient store. I rate the overall experience as excellent but the site wouldnt let me check the box.

We stayed at the North Rim Campground at Site 18, less than a 4-minute walk from the Rim. Site is relatively flat. Be sure not to park off the asphalt or the camp host will have your head on a platter! The Transept Trail was right behind our campsite, and it's a wonderful walk to the Grand Canyon Lodge - about 1.5 miles one way. Once there, be sure to check out Bright Angel Point. Incredible views!!! Is a wide, paved trail and perfectly safe as long as you stay on the marked path. However, it is not a safe place to bring young children in my opinion. There are thousand foot drops on both sides of the trail with no guardrails except at a small bridge and at the point itself. Another wonderful excursion is the scenic drive -1.5 hours each way but worth it! Imperial Point and Cape Royal Point are spectacular. The North Rim has far fewer visitors so you won't have to fight to sit in viewing chairs or eat at the lodge. Wonderful! Not to keep beating the same drum but this isn't an amusement park. The NPS does a wonderful job marking and grooming trails, but unless you're literally on a rock outcropping/point, there will be no rails. If you are scared of heights, the Grand Canyon may not be for you!

Site is close to cliff and partial canyon view from campsite is amazing. Full shade due to surrounding trees. Be prepared for heavy thunder storm during afternoon. We had to cover our tent with extra tarp to prevent water leaking into the tent. Restroom close by and nice clean. 2 power points in restroom were helpful in recharging power banks. We used starlink from the site and managed to get 60-70 Mbps in avg with occasional disconnection. Campsite is very next to Transept Trail and if possible take the benefit of ranger program, will help you get to know the north rim better. Keep your food safely, otherwise chipmunks will definitely steal. It was nice experience of staying in tent with shade, starry nights, thunderstorm and priceless view of twilight in the canyon. Will visit next year again for hiking.

We loved this laid back campground on the quieter rim. Site 18 was amazing! The showers were pretty gross, but better than nothing I guess. Camp store and laundry convenient

If you can grab a site on the outside of the loop, it will be one of the finest camp sites in all the national parks. If not on the outside, it will still be the north rim. Great hiking. Great views.

A great site (18) which was on the rim of the Canyon. Very secluded site with many trees and it seemed like we had the entire campsite to ourselves. Big disappointment was the condition of the showers. There were supposed to be 3 showers for each men and women. Only one shower was working in the men's and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. Extremely disappointed.

Good sized campsites; book 6 months ahead of time for prime spots. Very helpful and friendly rangers. Showers were kept clean, though need quarters. Local store was very convenient and the restaurant had great food with a spectacular view of the Canyon! Recommend making reservations for sunset for a night early on (ie before or upon arrival for some night during the week).

We stayed at the North Rim Campground for a few nights in August 2019. It was amazing. Absolutely amazing. Our RV trip of over 4000 miles around western USA (having flown over from the UK) included nine national parks and loads of campgrounds ((lots of them were recreation.gov sites). North Rim was probably our favourite of them all. We booked very carefully and secured one of the sites that overlooks the side canyon, which meant that we were less than 100 metres away from the edge. The silence was awesome. The night skies were awesome. The short walk to the Lodge for a memorable dinner was awesome. The cheeky mouse that found its way into our RV and nibbled on some crackers in the middle of the night scared the life out of me (thought we were being robbed but of course this would have to be one of the least likely places in the world to be robbed!).Do your research, get in early on the booking system (literally, the very second the sites become available) and score yourself the pitch of a lifetime.
