We had an email go check in with the host, but when we arrived there was no host. There was a kiosk at the site but that was also not manned either. We eventually we were able to connect to wifi and look up our site number but for people arriving late that wouldnt have been possible (as the general store would have been closed). In the days before online reservations the host or the person in the kiosk would have posted a list of names and their corresponding sites, but even this wasnt done.

Had a lovely time. Every trail I hiked was beautiful, and the weather was kind to us.

Site #69. Nice pull through site. No privacy. Close to bathrooms. Very quiet in mid May. Left site unattended one night doing rim to rim and my tent wasn't messed with.

This was my 5th time camping in the North Rim Grand Canyon since my first time in 1993. I have also camped at the South Rim 5 times.I much prefer the North Rim over the South Rim because the North Rim is much less commercial and its quieter.I do have a complaint I would like to bring to someones attention. The North Rim has a shower house that I have used every time Ive been there. It costs $1.50 (in quarters) to get a hot shower. This time I went into a shower, put my $1.50 into the machine and turned the valve to the hot only to be standing there for the entire time it was running and it was cold all the way.I went to a Park Ranger at the check in location and the young man told me it was not their operation. He told me the people who manage the country store were in charge of the showers and laundry. I went there only to be told they collect the money but they arent in charge of the showers. They told me ti go back to the showers and ask for a young man who was cleaning the showers. I told him about the cold showers and he told me they would refund my quarters ($1.50). He said two weeks before I got there people from the National park had turned down the temperature for both the showers but also the washers. I had reserved 4 nights but I left 2 days early because of the fact I couldnt get a hot shower.I wish the people who basically turned off the hot water would try taking cold showers!

This is one of the best run park campgrounds I've ever stayed in. So clean. But what is really the best is the placement of the sites. Not all jammed in together. It was also so quiet so the people were showing respect for the place. It was so hard to get a site when we had to change plans a month ahead but I was patient and checked every day. It was therefore sad to see unoccupied sites. The hosts were so friendly and helpful The ranger also. Laundry good and the showers were erratic in temperatures but we were glad there was water at all.I like North Rim so much more than South Rim . A fantastic several nights.

The spot (#069) is well guarded by two trees at the entrance that are 15 apart and two at the exit that are 14 apart. The difference is that the entry trees are across from each other on the paved pull through drive but the exit trees follow the road so that the angle makes the actual width much less. I backed out when leaving. 24 TT with pick up. The spot was almost level and within a short walk to the restrooms. There is a well-stocked General Store/Gift shop. Wood was a bargain. Short drive to the Lodge and village. Watch out for deer crossing the road near dusk. Gas is available at a reasonable price. Dont stop in Jacobs Lake on the way (rip off).

Great site. Open, but plenty of space.
Nice camp store nearby with everything you might need. Very helpful camp-host and close to the lodge and north rim trails.

Great campgrounds. Only minor complaint is some sites are backwards, meaning the RV door is opposite the table.

Awesome vistas. The canyon is a natural wonder. Cooler weather and less hectic than the south rim. Campgrounds have large sites and lots of shade. Convenient dump station and clear mountain spring water to fill your RV tanks. Ranger that checked us in was very friendly and helpful.

The only negative aspect of our time on the North Rim, was that it was the end of the season and all the amenities were already closed, so we did not get to experience the back ground displays of information. However, nothing can take away the experience of visiting the Grand Canyon. The North Rim was a far better experience than when visiting the South Rim, as there are orders of magnitudes less people at the North Rim.

Campers booking on what apparently is last evening of the campground should have been told in advance that showers and laundry facility would be unavailable to them. I chose this campground specifically for that opportunity as we were car camping. It was very disappointing to wake in the morning and discover we have to leave without the availability of any amenities. We were barely even able to get a simple national parks stamp or purchase any books as that particular apartment was also closed down and packing up feverishly.

This is our favorite campground in all of the National Park Service. Most summers we try to spend a few days at this campground. Very isolated, and takes a lot of effort to get to. Well worth the effort to camp in the special place on our planet.
