A short walk to Bus Stops makes it easy to get around from Mather Campground without needing your vehicle.

Everything was super cool, check-in, finding a place. The nature was incredible.

Excellent campground. Lots of space between sites. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Good facilities, including showers.

We really enjoyed our stay at Mather Campground! The sites were much more sheltered with trees than we anticipated, which was a pleasant surprise. The location to the Grand Canyon was perfect, close enough to walk if we wanted an extra leg stretch, but just a couple minutes drive if we didnt. $2.50 for the showers, we thought it was a bit much, but they had a change machine right there. Overall great experience!

The campground was just as expected. Prompt, polite check-in. Picnic table, fire ring, easy access to toilets and garbage dumpster. I used the showers once. $2.50 in quarters. Bring your own soap and shampoo. Easy to get around the park. I went in mid November so driving and parking was easy / peasy. Some of my high points:1. Bright Angel Trail to river and back. ~17 miles, 4400' gain/loss. Beautiful hike. 9 hours round trip. I'm 70 years old with considerable hiking / climbing experience. With relatively low temperatures in mid-November, it was not a strenuous hike. I took a big bag of healthy trail snacks and carried 5 liters of water. The water supply was supposed to be turned off, but there was water available at about the 5 mile mark. It would be a whole different story in the summer heat so beware.2. Helicopter trip with Maverick Helicopters. $349 for ~45 minutes. SOOOO Cool. I've never been in a helicopter before so that was an added benefit. I highly recommend this.3. Dark Sky Astronomy event. It was a 'bar code' event on a sign in front of the visitor center. We had a volunteer who did and evening program which was excellent. Very knowledgeable and articulate who could explain things in non technical verbiage. I learned a LOT from his ~30 minute talk. There were also several amateur astronomers in attendance with the telescopes trained on planets and nebula, etc. I really enjoyed this also.4. No gathering firewood in the park but there is a national forest just outside the park with easy access and side of the road campsites with extra firewood.5. Visitor Center movie was interesting. The rim walk starting at Mather Point to Yavapai Point is an easy hike for anyone offering great views of the canyon. The Museum at Yavapai Point is worth spending time at.6. Cell service is good at the S. Rim. I didn't expect coverage when I got down to the river, nor did I get any. But as I moved up toward the rim, adequate.

Love this place! Only complaint would be the person cleaning the bathroom was very rude and would not give any idea of how long it would take till the bathroom is open again even when she finished and reopened them 5 minutes after asking nicely. Seems like some additional training maybe in order. She was acting like she hated her job and people.

Well maintained campground. Updated laundry and shower hours end at 4pm with last load at 3:30. Tough schedule if you plan on hiking all day.

This campground is amazing! We stayed in space 30. Restrooms immaculate and well stocked at all times. The whole campground is so clean! A dishwashing sink outside the restroom house. Coin-op shower and laundry only available from 6am-1pm. So quiet and peaceful. The biggest plus was that the shuttle stop was right there and the General Store was within walking distance so we rarely needed to drive our personal vehicle once we got there. Will definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family

The campground was tidy and had ample room for our tent and other equipment. The large picnic table is a great addition. Showers are only open from 6am-1pm, but there were enough open that we did not have to wait. There is a change machine within the facility if you forget quarters. Our site was in walking distance of the pickup site for the blue shuttle, as well as the general store, which was a plus

Very pleasant experience at this campground! It is in a nice, forested location, so there is some shade, and it was very quiet - even for a Saturday/Sunday! It is also very close to the Rim and to the Market Plaza, and in a great location if you want to do the drive East to the Desert View Watchtower. Huge thanks and appreciation to the folks at the Registration desk, there were heavy rains in the forecast so when we arrived to check in they actually moved us to a different campsite, for fear that the original site we had booked would flood! Only complaint was that the campsite had a fair amount of debris leftover from previous campers - remember to practice Leave No Trace and clean up your campsite! :)

I did a solo trip to Mather campground. It was very filled so I had to reserve different campsites for the length of my stay. I feel as if this was a beautiful and safe environment for solo travel. Showers were 2.50 for 5 minutes. Heat was bearable, soak your clothes in water if you feel hot. Campsites are small and you won’t have privacy as other campers are in close proximity. I did feel safe at night though and seen rangers patrolling the grounds. There was a general store in the park and had no ice. Nearest store and gas is about a 20 minute drive outside the park I believe. Nice stay
