Top place to stay and visit the Grand Canyon NP. Would absolutely recommend it!

Great area. Within minutes of our arrival setting up our tent, we had elk walking through. It was beautiful. The facilities are nice. If you have a family, we found you can ask for the family shower room, made things so much easier with our kiddos. The children had a memorable time. We will be back.

Bathrooms were full of flies (summertime) and if you want to see park animals, go early or late in the day

When I made my reservation I found contradictory information on the reservation website. I saw a length restriction on travel trailers of 15 feet, yet there were photos of much larger trailers and RVs using the campground. When I reserved, I entered "15" feet as our trailer length, even though it was actually a 17 foot trailer. I felt uncertain enough that I spent some time researching alternate places to stay in case we were turned away from the campground. No one cared when we came to the campground, perhaps because our unit was much smaller than many of the RVs that were there. We loved the campground. However, when it came time to use the laundry and shower facility, and especially the sewer dump station, things went a bit south. Your 2000 character limits explanation. The facility appears to be one that accepts vehicles entering from both directions and serving two RVs dumping at once. However, there is only one dump hole. Your character limit prevents further explanation, except: When, for the first time in my RV'ing experience the entire contents of my black tank ended up on the ground instead of going down the hole, I needed water to rinse the site and make it usable for the next RV. There was an RV parked between the water tap and the sewer hole. I have never seen a water tap placed anywhere other than right next to the sewer hole where it would be accessible for use, on any RV sewer dump anywhere. With an audience of RV owners waiting, I had to find a suitable adapter and use my RV outside shower fitting and a hose to clean up the area. The next time I used the dump everything went OK as I entered from the right direction and was more careful than I have ever needed to be to make sure the hose stayed in the hole. Zero star rating for your dump. Staff were confused about who to contact who could solve the no change available problem preventing the use of the laundry and showers. ETc.

Great campsite close to a restroom. We visited Hermits Rest to the west and Desert View to the east. We drove 2 1/2 hours to Horsehoe Bend.

The only downside to staying at this campground is the wait to get into the park. The campground is quiet and clean. The elk walk around freely but don't really seem to mind people. We actually had phone service here with T-mobile, usually when we are closer to the rim and Bright Angel area we wouldn't have service. Our spot was near bathroom but at least they are flush toilets so you don't have to worry about being downwind. Highly recommend.

Visited in late September 2022. Days were hot and nights were cool. Due to water pipe issues, the showers were shut down. Overall campground was great. Same pipe problem had water spigots shut off, but you could still refill at trailheads or nearby market.

Pros: It was a good stay. The bathrooms were very clean, the camp host was very knowledgeable, and the sites were shady. We were pleasantly surprised with the amount of trees in the campground! Easy to pull camper through and our site was level! The stars at night are awesome. Stay up for those! Great picnic tables and fire rings (even though there was a ban). Stellar location, close to market and post office, and showers.Cons: the guy who checked us in at the campground kiosk was not very friendly or helpful. A different employee who happened to be walking through the parking lot was way more help than the guy who was supposed to be helping us. Also, the showers were broken, so we had to rush with showering. The attendant helping manage was very rude and was yelling at me as I was naked to get out! My time was cut short because I had used a shower that ate my money and had to get reimbursed from her and wait for another shower to open. Her actions were uncalled for. Showers were fixed by the last night of our stay and we had no issues after.Drove to Bright Angel Trailhead and hiked. Very important to bring snacks and water. After, we dined at the food court. Disappointing quality of food and man serving the hot food was grumpy. What is with the employees at Grand Canyon? Other National parks we have encountered happy and helpful rangers and employees. Not so much here. The grocery store usually only had 1 cashier, maybe 3 at most. Always a long wait. The dirt at the campgrounds is very dusty, so a large mat is recommended if you want to keep your camper clean. The ground was hard to get stakes in and virtually impossible to get them out again!Overall I would recommend this campground, but warn people of the employees.

This campground was great! Flush toilets. A sink in the bathroom. A sink for dishes. Other campers respected quiet hours. I would say these were good sized camp sites. Good shade coverage. Easy enough access to water. This campground has showers right next to it, so that's super convenient. The market is a one-minute drive from the campground too, and the market is loaded with almost anything you could need or want. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and I would return to this campground without a moment's hesitation.

A wonderful place to stay! Very peaceful, close to shuttle stops and other amenities. I cant stress enough how pleased I was at the cleanliness of the restrooms. I cant stand using public restrooms and these were so awesome and clean. I appreciate all of the hard work that goes in to that.

Reservation system has MAJOR flaws. The current system encourages booking for sites you will not use. So many people do not get to stay while 40% of the campground is unoccupied. Campground is fine. Showers are bad.

Great location. Walkable to the rim trail and other locations - or I could just hop on a shuttle. My campsite was pretty private, great view of the stars, very clean. The bathrooms were also clean!

Large campground, but with decent distance between sites and plenty of shade. Restrooms were clean and well stocked. Some generator noise during the day, but the quiet hours were absolutely observed, so not an issue. Highly recommend.

Clean. Lots of space. Easy to find. Fire pits. Clean bathrooms. There are showers. Easy check in. Close enough to people not to feel isolated but not too close. Nice trees for shade. Close to seeing the sites.

I love Mather Campground, although having the showers closed for covid restrictions was a poor decision, since there is more social distancing than on the shuttles.
