Excellent location, close to bathroom and water. Fun to have elks quietly wandering the area.

Beautiful campground, nice sites spread out from the next, good amenities near by

Really flat, lots of trees for hammock opportunities. The elk walking through the campground is really cool. It's really close to the bathroom. The water spigot is a little further. Only real con is that the tent campers are mixed in with RV campers and there's a loud road nearby, so it was a bit noiser than my preference. The grill on the firepit is pretty low, which might make cooking challenging.

This campsite is well maintained, easy to navigate, and the sites are far enough apart to feel private. Make sure you check the weather I was definitely not expecting snow! And Id recommend bringing firewood into the park as the camp store was out when I arrived. Other than that a wonderful location. Easy to get ti everywhere on the south rim from there.

Loved this campground. We were only there for one night, but will definitely return. It was calm, quiet, clean, and close to everything.

In spite of sites being fairly close together, it was still relatively quiet. Easy walk to the rim trail and general store and a short drive to the trailhead the next morning to start my canyon run.

Mathers campground is a great place to stay. Site 47 of the Aspen Loop was a great place for our stay at Mathers Campground. The site was clean, well maintained and convenient to get to. Close to a bathroom and spaced out far enough from our neighbors. For those who have remarked on cell service, I have T-Mobile/Sprint, and I use an iPhone 13 Pro - my cell service was good/great. The campground rules for quiet time were very reasonable and really cut down on noise from generators and standard noise. It was truly great...we remarked how quiet it was.

The campground itself is great but we couldn't take a shower for 2 days because it's open only till 1pm!!! We arrived first evening - no shower. Next day we went for a long hike into the grand canyon, came back in the afternoon- no shower. How can it not be available in the evening? Because of that we decided to find some hotel nearby. Also the guy at the reception was grumpy

I arrived late to get some sleep before starting a backpacking trip the following day. It all worked out well. I wasn't there very long.

Except non-availability of drinking water, it was fantastic there. There were flush toilets running, so was just wondering why not any drinking water spigot. I didn't even see spigot in the camp area. There was a dish washing station, which was closed in the winter, so not sure if that was the spigot which will function after spring. It was April 10th and that can't be said to be winter season in Grand Canyon, hence water spigot should have been working.
However, camp itself is fantastic and very close to rest of the amenities, including village market.
