Campsite was great! Neighbors were not. They left a bag of trash and Ravens went to it immediately so we had to clean up their campsite. Just because there are not bear bins does not mean it is safe to leave trash on the table. We also had a mouse that entered our van here.....

Such a spacious, and gorgeous campground! Sites were spread out and it was teeming with wildlife! Ravens, baby squirrels, and elk!

Our family really enjoyed our experience! Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. We got to enjoy seeing many many wild elk. Absolutely gorgeous!! We can't wait to come back same time next year with our extended family. Thinking of making it a new family tradition of our own.

Very good campground for such a popular spot. Big spot, clean toilets, friendly stuff. We had a perfect night!

Great host / ranger at check in, Our site (Aspen loop, 12) was a little exposed but we only stayed one night before heading for two nights below the rim. The cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen at a NPS campground (they're always pretty clean though) and water available at sink near bathroom (spigot near campsite was not on).

World class spectacular time. Everything and every sight was perfect. We stayed on the inner loop was great. Enough space and trees to keep it very quiet. Had some elk walk through the campsite along with seeing javalina and mule deer 30 or so yards away. Bring or buy some quality binoculars. Makes a world of difference. Campsite is so close to everything including the transit busses. Cant wait to get back there.

Very clean sites and bathroom areas. Sites are not super close to each other, but you can definitely see all your neighbors, despite the decent amount of trees. There were a few RVs running generators at early morning hours, but apparently there is another campground in the park that is generator-free. The location of the campground is close to the main park amenities and shuttles.

Had a wonderful first visit to the Grand Canyon! My campsite was 5 minutes walk to the shuttle stop; other sites were further away. If youre planning on using the shuttle, try to get one closer. The other sites around me were reserved but empty. Thats so rude. Dont reserve the spots and then not use them! Cancel your reservation! Other people are trying to camp there but cant because youre rude.I walked nearly the entire length of Hermit Road starting from Bright Angel highly recommend. The spots between the viewpoints were better than the actual viewpoints, IMO. I hiked 1.5 miles out and back on both South Kaibab and Bright Angel starting the former in the dark and reaching Cedar Ridge before sunrise was awesome. Bright Angel is a little less scenic, but theres water. I do not recommend either in the summer.

Facilities are well kept and easy access to all the nice walking/hiking trails and picturesque locations.

Overall the Mather campground experience was above average but I gave it a 'good' rating because of the very limited shower/laundry access. On Monday Oct 18 we showed up after lunch to take showers but it was closed already. It was very frustrating as there is no other means to shower.
In general service in the park was not good compared to past visits because of understaffing. I hope the park can secure more employees soon.
