Campsites are awfully close together and close to the road, but they are otherwise perfectly nice and functional. Considering how popular the grand canyon is, I was happy to be able to spend the night so close to it for not a whole heck of a lot of money.

Quiet at the end of November, felt spacious as there were empty sites. Hot showers and laundry great, and the Shop nearby with a good range of food, beer, and clothing etc So close to Canyon Rim walks, the Shuttle bus and forest tracks. Great experience.

Good clean campground, but checked in at 4 and was told the showers and laundry close at 4 (November - maybe this is different in the summer?) This was frustrating as most people would like to shower at the end of a long day of hiking. Also, be careful when you select where to camp. We were close to the road (Site 077 Fir Loop) and we could hear cars on the rumble strips all night. My mistake. Camp farther from the road.

Beautiful place. Large spaces. Showers and laundry are a bonus (be sure to bring lots of quarters or $1, $5 or $10 bills to convert to quarters).

The lot assignments were clearly seen along with directions. Very helpful since we arrived after dark. Clean bathrooms and short walk to market plaza as well as to South Rim. Highly recommend.

Great view! Friendly staff! Well kept area and restrooms. Only downside is that there’s no showers; there are showers at another nearby, must-drive lake, and those showers were well kept as well.

Mather Campgrounds were well maintained and central to all the activities you will want to do at the Grand Canyon. Check-in was seamless (once we got through the gates), the campsites were well-maintained, and the facilities were in excellent condition. There is also a large, well-stocked general store nearby.

The wait to get into the park was over an hour long on the day after Thanksgiving so I recommend building that into your schedule, depending on when you plan to visit. We also enjoyed having our bikes, but much of what the Grand Canyon has to offer is best enjoyed on foot.

Our favorite moment was eating a packed lunch overlooking the canyon at one of the many private lunch tables scattered along the road to Hermit's Rest (where you can purchase ice cream for dessert). We biked but there is a shuttle. If you can't walk the entire distance, I recommend walking between at least a couple lookouts to really enjoy the scenery. Also, if you don't want to bike back from Hermit's Rest, the shuttles have bike racks.

For a "dry" campground this one is excellent. The sites are laid out nicely and the proximity to the southern rim, village and market wwas great.
