Was very happy to get 3-day reservation during an historic heat-wave in Phoenix, AZ. Enjoyed a shady campsite, great camper services, rangers are friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. Tree maintenance was in progress, but the crews were very polite and advised of their working path. I had very good phone reception, too.

We had an awesome time at Mathers! Plenty of room, clean bathrooms, friendly rangers, and really close to the southern rim. We would highly suggest this campground.

I arrived mid-week, so general parking in The Village was not problematic - there were sufficient parking spaces. The campsite was clean with a wonderful picnic table and fire ring, rangers are very helpful, and I actually had pretty good cell reception (TMobile). There is some construction going on - re-paving some areas - but the work was during the day and was not particularly noisy at all. I love that the shuttle is right at the entrance to the campground, and I can easily walk to the General Market, Yavapai Lodge, and even the Visitors Center from the campground.

Very nice campground. Everything was clean and people respected the quiet hours. We were very surprised to see so many elk walking through the campground. It was a great weekend!

The spot that we chose for our grand canyon couldnt have been better. We had clean, well maintained flush bathrooms less than 100 feet away, plenty of space for our tent and supplies, trees all around for shade, and the canyon market village was about 5 minutes away. There was never a dull moment, and if you enjoy scenic, long hikes, I must recommend hiking to skeleton point. Though it is about a 5 hour expedition hiking in and out, but with some of the most beautiful sights that you can only witness by hiking into the canyon. I recommend going early in the morning before the sun is at its hottest, and taking a large amount of snacks and water/electrolyte beverages, as there is no water once you begin to hike down. You will not regret making this trip! We will definitely return!
