The campground was clean and flat, and the bathrooms were well stocked and tidy. A band of well-organized crows seemed interested in some of our belongings, so we had to keep an eye on them.

Campground was clean and the restrooms were pretty good. Campsite was very rocky however, it was impossible to get eight stakes in for a tent, had to use rocks to tie some points down.

We camped out at Mathers Campground, in the Pine Loop area (#268), a few days ago since the time of this review.Walking-wise, the campground is close to the Blue/Village shuttle stop, and the shuttle itself can lead you to the village, which can lead you to other parts of the park and shuttles. The campground area itself is beautiful and is nice to walk around. The bathroom is also close to the campground that we were at. If I recall, there are power outlets available at the bathroom. Bathrooms are pretty clean and very warm, especially in the night. I would recommend checking in PRIOR to going to your campground, since the staff at the check-in area can give you a map that tells you exactly where the campground is at. Otherwise, Google Maps can give you a general idea of where to go. Overall, a very nice campground. I would come back again!

Camping in February, it takes a certain type of person to rough it in the sub-freezing cold and to be able to navigate the icy roads that lead in and out of the camp sites. Roads were icy and the snow was deep. Overall, I was in my element! Don't talk about it be about it. Just get out there and do it! It was a perfect time without the summer crowd!

A coyote sniffing the fire as a greeting, then other, larger animals. It's absolutely worth it! Great places for trekking in the area

The staffs are friendly and very supportive. The check-in process is easy and relaxed. The lady staff helped me to switch the camp site from a sunny to a more shady comfort one upon my request. The camp site is huge but well organized, maintained, clean and quite. The on-site shower rooms, laundry and bathrooms are very convenient and clean. The blue-line shuttle bus stop is just a short walkable distance to the campground. There are private walking (trails) sidewalks next to the main driveway so the campers can walk in & out of the campground and will not be bothered by the passing driving cars. As a novice solo camper I have very wonderful experiences staying in Mather campground in Grand Canyon. Will visit again! Highly recommend it!

We really enjoyed our one-night stay. The campsite was clean, more than large enough for our needs (two small tents), and well-spaced from our neighbors. Check-in was a breeze and the whole area was well-marked with way-finding signs. Mather Campground really added to our over all experience of this most awe-inspiring of natural wonders.

There is no electricity. I stayed in Arkansas campgrounds one week earlier (also many times before). I was taking shower, making my own coffee, preparing breakfast on fire, etc. They were ten times comfortable, natural, friendly and easy to work. In mather, you even have to pay for the showers, yes showers! There is no shade in many tent areas for the whole day.

Grand Canyon is beautiful. Campground was ok. Not really conducive to large roof top camping set ups. Truck with tent and vestibule did not fit on car pad. We spotted second set of tire tracks and assumed this would suffice as it was also dirt. Positioned vehicle to set up tent. Received 0600 wake up call from ranger that just wanted to tell about tent on tent pad and trust on truck pad. This was after park host watched us set up and said nothing. I packed up and left. We got our money back and went to Bryce. They were way more accommodating. Their ranger just told me he liked the set up. Will not return to Mather.

Fabulous 5 days camping at Grand Canyon Mather Campground. Site well maintained and restrooms impeccably clean. Bring firewood, although you can buy most everything there. Excellent bus system gets you everywhere. Take advantage of Park Rangers talks about history, etc. Very informative. Good to start out at a Visitor/information center to ask questions and get the lay of the land. Maps are so helpful for the hikes, distances and other information. Could see everything online before you go or get them upon your arrival. Have an unforgettable time watching the sunset, the sunrise and everything in between!

Campground is well organized, clean, very central to great park.
We were disappointed to see the guests at a nearby site were noisy, and did not respect the park rules (e.g., cutting down tree limbs for their fire) or the very awesome park staff who are just trying to keep the sites safe and a good experience for everyone (e.g., arguing with site manager when they left their fire unattended).
