Stayed at Campsite 182 for two nights. Excellent place to stay in the Grand Canyon. We had a firepit for cooking, picnic table, water nearby, and bathrooms a short walk away. Campground was quiet and clean. Shuttle bus stop is at the entrance to the campground and marketplace plaza, where there is a grocery store, restaurant and coffee shop is the next stop. You can also walk to the plaza in about 15 min. Mather campground is an excellent place to stay.

Great campground and nice sites! Just wish they offered free showers to people staying in the campground and that the shower hours were extended but I know that neither of those are under the control of the national park and are instead run by Delaware North.

Campground was clean and shady. Check in was quick. Laundry area was clean, and had multiple machines. (uses quarters). Did not use the showers, as we used ours in the rig. Dump station was fairly small but we had no issues.

Area around the CG had a general store that had anything you might need. Quick drive (15 mins) into the town of Tusayan for gas.

The camp sites are clean and well maintained. And I absolutely LOVE the amount of respect that is paid to the wildlife. My girlfriend and I were treated to several female elk and their youngsters for most of our stay. A faucet is left dripping so the animals can come drink freely on the grounds. Ravens swoop in and out of the sites, arguing with each other like shameless blue collar Brooklynites, hiding just out of sight to cackle at you, perching on a nearby branch to heckle you, and strutting around almost playfully (tongue in beak) near your table, waiting very cunningly for you to forget that one trash bag before you head out for the day. Almost like an affectionate game. And if you do leave it, it's a pecking party!Even though we did want to respect the park and the ecosystem by not leaving our trash out, we grew a bit frustrated at the lack of trash receptacles at the individual camp sites. Certainly we could walk down to a dumpster, down the road. But if we had just a little trash, we had to either waste an entire trash bag on it at the dumpster, or keep the bag in our car or tent until the bag was full. I was disappointed by the conditions of the community restrooms. They weren't sickening, but they definitely could have been cleaner. And the toilets were hilariously frustrating. They were so high off the floor, my legs almost dangled. And I'm a man of average height (about 5' 10"). Why? Guys, really. Whyyyyy???My favorite part of our stay was the beautiful, distant chorus of howling and chattering coyotes that woke us on our first night (and a few other nights, too). They were so wonderful to hear. What with their sweet cacophonies, our raven pals, and the sweet elk dropping by hanging out for drinks, we felt reminded that WE were the gueststhat we were not there first. And yet we did feel welcome.

Campground well run, clean, and mostly quiet. Volunteers and hosts very friendly. On the negative side, the RV dump station rinse water was removed so that you have no water to clean your RV dump hose. That is non standard at any dump station in the US, it is not hygenic or safe. The Park Service needs to reinstall this rinse water at the dump station. Thanks to all the Park Service workers who make this Park Great!

Really liked the campground. Woodsy, private, winding roads. Campsite driveways need to be resurfaced. Enjoyed staying at Mather a lot!!!

The fire pit was overflowing with ash, please clean these before we arrive!

Close to Mather point, quiet and on the greenway - making accessibility to the rim possible via bike! Great campground with plentiful trees and distance between sites!

Very natural camp ground. Love the close to nature and we had elks walking by our spot. Heard Wolves Howling in the middle of the night. What a treat! This camp spot is not suitable for larger rigs. I am pulling a 21 feet and I am brushing tree branches on my way around the camp ground.

I mis-booked: September dates instead of October dates so our site and our potential neighbors site may have enjoyed being vacant for that night. LOL
Anyway, I was unable to cancel the site once I realized my error, nor could I apply for a refund. Duh!

I'm happy to give money to our National Parks in any way, though. So it's all good!

Mather campground repaved Aspen and Fir loops last year. The rest of the pavement in the other loops is in pretty bad shape. I hope this repaving is going to continue.

Our site was great! Lots of trees for shade, and loved the wildlife. Very nice having an RV dump station at the campground. Loved the convenience of being in the park and the proximity to the attractions. We highly recommend and will come back.
