Amazing location and very clean bathrooms. I loved my stay at this campground and I definitely plan on coming back next year

The campground was clean and well maintained. The view was lovely with elk and deer roaming through.

Pros of this campground: proximity to the canyon, a bit of space between sites, and very helpful staff who provide lots of good information on hikes, the park, etc. (I'm guessing the pay showers would be a nice perk, too. We weren't at our site at the hours they were open.) And the stars at night were gorgeous! Cons: hard, rocky ground that is very difficult to get tent stakes into and bathrooms that were never cleaned in the 48 hours we were there. Also, would it kill the NPS to add some shelves or hooks here and there in the restroom and dishwashing areas in parks, especially around sinks? We were grateful for the dishwashing sink at Mather but would love a simple shelf nearby. As it is, you have to wash your dishes then set them on the dirty ground outside the restrooms while you wash the rest. With a little upkeep, especially around the restrooms, the experience here could be much improved. The proximity to the canyon cannot be beat, and, again, the rangers on site at the campground were awesome. We probably would have enjoyed the experience more in a cooler season, too.

The campsite, Juniper Loop 168, was very open (no surrounding trees) to the other campsites which led to lack of privacy when congregating around the campfire and when inside our personal tents for evening time. It looked as though there were some previous trees but had fallen, leaving a lot of open space between campsites. I would recommend planting new trees to buffer sound and allow for future privacy amongst campers.

However, the bathrooms were well maintained throughout our stay (3 nights) which gave us peace of mind when using the facilities.
