This campground was pretty big and kept up with nicely. We only stayed one night, but it was close to get to the actual Grand Canyon and stores. My biggest complaint is that the showers were only open from 8am3:45pm. When we arrived to the campground we couldnt shower and we had to delay our start time on the trail so we could get one of the first showers of the day. Its also quarter operated and costs $2.50 for only 5min, which seems a bit ridiculous to me.

Almost perfect campground: need electrical outlet to cook my Asian rice using Japanese rice cook pot.

Really liked staying in the Mather Campground, has close access to the grocery store and catching the shuttle busses. The particular site that we camped in (#163), was a little far to two of the bathrooms. An extra restroom on that far corner of the campground would be more convenient and you would not have to cut through campsites or plan to make extra time to get there or use your car should you need to carry water.

Campsites were very nice - large and shaded with tables and fire rings. Road noise was a bit loud for the tent sites. Restrooms were clean but shower houses are still closed - an amenity I was counting on after long hikes in hot, dusty terrain! None of the pre- camp info I received mentioned that so I assumed they would be open by now. I never understood why washing your hands was a good thing to prevent the spread of disease but washing your whole body is somehow a super-spreader hazard. Also, they charge you $10 for 5 pieces of wood and $7 for a small bag of ice which I felt was exorbitant - more than we've ever paid at any state or national park. I didn't appreciate being taken advantage of like that.
