The Mather Campground was one of the best that Ive been to. It had all the amenities for a family-friendly experience. The campground was clean and well-kept, its within hiking distance to the South Rim of the canyon, or if I prefer I can take the shuttle. The coin-op shower stalls and toilets are presentable. My campsite in particular had my own paved pull-in and pull-out driveway. The campsites were spacious and generously spaced out. There are hiking and bike trails throughout the vicinity. Overall, it was a great experience.

We arrived late, after darkness, on our first vacation in an RV, at our very first camping ground. Happy to find everything easy and smooth. Clean toilets. We awoke to find ourselves in a nice pine forest, with an appropriate distance to other vehicles, and with a group of elks grazing nearby.

Beautiful wooded campsite with lots of space to enjoy. We even had some elk wander through.

The amenities were fine. My only complaint was I arrived to take a shower at 3:40 as they closed at 3:45 and we had to be out by 4:00. when I arrive the doors are already locked and the attendant would not let me in.

Great campsite, fabulous location. Better posting of generator hours and noise ban (no music at 7am) would be a nice addition!

Such a beautiful campground! We had a great stay!! It was a bit disappointing to arrive and find the campground empty! We booked our stay 6 months in advance and it was the last spot, so had to settle. Which meant our door was facing the road, boo! Not sure where everyone was but, all spots had reserved signs and less than 10% of the park had campers.

Beautiful campground, plenty of shade among the trees and loved the space between sites, we enjoyed a campfire and elk bugling in distance both nights (Sept 2023). Easy to find a shuttle to take you around the park. There was confusion about about how many vehicles were allowed per site. The online system took our vehicle info etc and customer service at rec.gov said we were OK, but when we got there the ranger said no. Good thing I was able to reserve a second campsite in advance, or we would have been SOL. Would be nice if Mather Campground had a phone #, we could have asked them direct. Yes, we'll go again. Yes, we love the Grand Canyon.

Only thing bad was our neighbor camper left their firepit going when then checked out! It was windy and it could have started a forest fire! Please inform people better about fire danger here in AZ. More signs maybe👍

Great instructions for off-hours check-in. The stars were incredible and the campsite was extremely close to Mather's Point for the sunrise.

The campground was okay, but the park was VERY crowded. And we weren't expecting to have to take a bus to see half the park. Overall the park experience was disappointing and we left after one night in the campground even though we had reserved two nights.

Camp sites are too close together. Showers old, worn out, and not functioning correctly. No seating inside stalls. Drafty. Single sink in women's shower vs. 10 toilets. Only two outlets in womens shower. All inadequate. Laundry was good. Market hours need to be extended. Showers should be 24x7. Not enough late night dining options. This was shoulder season.
