Greated by 3 roaming cow Elk and a Doe mule deer at our camp site. Had a great 2 night stay. Hiked to Phantom ranch and back in 1 day. Found showers close at 6 pm??? Paved bike trail to visiter center is way cool! Great stay! Worked good as a base camp close to the visitor center and shuttle to hike the south Kaibab trail to Phantom ranch at 6 am and we hiked back up Bright angle trail back to the top, we asked a park ranger at the visitor center what the latest shuttle pickup at the bright angle trailhead was, told 9 pm. We made it there with 2 minutes to spare, shuttle arrived at 9:07 was informed by the bus driver that she was making only 1 more stop around the corner at housing and was done for the day, not returning to the 4 parking lots at the visitor center. We were to call for a cab! It's 3 miles. Started walking and had a man and his son from England driving a rented motorhome stop and ask if we needed help, gave us a lift to the visitor center and shared a great chat along the way. Had a great time there with my son!

The camp site is nice. The neighbors respected the quiet hours so we were able to have a peaceful rest.We bought some firewood over at the Market. The fire wood came in handy as it got pretty cold at night .When we arrived it was snowing so we had to setup our tent right away. It was a cold night but we managed to sleep through it with our gear. The next morning it stopped snowing and we were able to check out the view points of the grand canyon. The campsite has clean bathrooms with flushing toilets.

Mather campground is fantastic! Close to the grocery store and bus stop to take you anywhere you need to go in the park. Shower, bathroom, etc. amenities are all anyone could need. Thank you.

Loved how close this campground was to the Grand Canyon National park. The nearby shuttle was very convenient. The best part was seeing the wildlife within the campground 🦌

Have been to the Grand Canyon before. this was the first time staying at the campsite. We really liked bringing our bikes and using the bike paths. What a great way to get around and see the sights ! Coupling that with the shuttles made for a great weekend!
