The campground was quiet and the grounds were well-maintained. We saw deer every morning and evening roaming about and grazing, which was peaceful. I have two negatives. One, the soap dispenser in the bathroom was empty our entire visit, which is more of an annoyance than an issue. Two, because of the way the one-way road is designed, if you are in a site that is on the left, our site was 81, our camper door was facing the road instead of the campsite itself. While this isn't a deal breaker, it was annoying. I like opening the door to the privacy of the campsite itself and not needing to walk around the camper to get to the fire pit and outdoor seating. Other than those nit picky items, the campground was exactly what I hoped for.

The campground was great. We stayed 4 days in our camper trailer. We saw elk every day and enjoyed hiking on the rim and other trails.

Unfortunately, the camp host had a difficult time with us. We were a group of 18 people occupying 3 sites. The 13 students were middle schoolers and were accused of making too much noise. None of it was applicable to my group. I am the teacher and have brought these same students to various state parks over the past 7 years and never received complaints about any of them. The host was unreasonable.
For the rest, the camp ground was clean and so were the bathrooms.

Good distance from other campers. Good distance to the restrooms. Showers and laundry only open from 6am-12pm. Saw many ravens, squirrels of various sizes, deer, and something that I think was maybe a moose???? None of the animals approached me.

Campground was not as clean as we would have liked for one of the most iconic places in the country. Perhaps understaffed?
We live outside of Phoenix so we feel the GC is in our backyard….so when people leave fires unattended it makes us heartsick considering there are so many wildfires right now. We actually saw/heard a camper from Tennessee ask their neighbor to watch their fire while they went and watched the sunset!!! The neighbor said yes! What? We immediately went to tell a ranger nearby. They need to ticket these people and or kick them out of the campground! Hit em where it hurts, in the pocketbook!

Great campground in a great park. Negative one was an unfriendly check in attendant. But by far the biggest negative was that the campground was "full" the week we were there, but was in fact mostly empty. The system rewards people who book a whole week just so they can get the weekend. They don't bother to cancel the days they don't plan to come. I love that the NPS has kept the price low. But since that allows these people to not care about not cancelling, you either need to hit them with a penalty, or you need to open their site to others if they don't check in. Help the rest of us enjoy the park! Thanks.
