easy to figure out everything, nice hot showers, easy access to visitor center, general store, and grand canyon village, beautiful campground with even some elk co-existing with you

We just went up to Grand Canyon to get out of town. We just played card games all day and didn't do much, it was wonderful.

Perfect in every way! Such a great campground. This particular site that we stayed at was nice and quiet and not too far away from the showers and laundry. We have nothing but good things to say about the campground.

Mather campground is well laid out and reminds me a lot of Colter Bay campground in Grand Teton National Park. The facilities are modern and stores and dining are close nearby. There is also a well -run shuttle bus system that will take you anywhere you want to go. The one thing the campground lacks are improved level tent sites that not only provide a flat place to pitch a tent, but allow for ample drainage during inclement weather. When it rains on the canyon rim, it really pours and, at present, the park service has not taken that into account for the tent camper.

This is for campsite 62. Had a few young trees around where we set up our hammocks. We didn’t do tents since it was raining and noticed that water came rushing in the middle of the campsite. It’s where rain water flows from different campsites unfortunately because it’s slightly lower than the campsites around it and then water pools at the start of campsite. Other benefits we appreciate much are the well maintained restrooms and cleanliness of the whole campground except for some pet poops left by previous clients at our campsite
