Really liked the campground as a whole. But Our campsite was too close to the road, even though we had a small camper van. Seems like the site could have been moved in further away from the road

Beautiful camping experience. We saw elk and mule deer wander through during our stay. Bathrooms were clean. (The bathroom also had a couple of electric outlets. I was able to heat a small water kettle for our coffee in the mornings). Also had a dishwashing sink. The stakes for our tent were really hard to get in. We ended up tying the rain fly to rocks- but it is a canyon, so Im sure thats expected.

First time campers, didn't know what to expect. This campground blew me away! Large campsites, provide plenty of privacy & room for all your equipment. Clean, convenient restrooms. Showers & laundry facilities available. Most conveniences are either a short drive or if you're up to it, within hiking distance. Would definitely recommend this campground!

As a Canadian, I was totally shocked by the campgrounds failure to deal with the ice on the roads and near the restrooms. I was so scared of falling that I couldn't leave my campsite after dark.

It's a beautiful campground and I was thrilled to camp so close to the Grand Canyon, but my presence was marred by the presence of dangerous ice throughout the campground. I'm Canadian, so I have some experience with ice; however, there was so much ice on the roads and near the rest rooms that I didn't feel safe leaving my campsite at night. I was shocked by the complete failure to treat the ice with salt!

I've stayed at Mather Campground before. It's great! Unless you're rich, be sure you bring in firewood from outside the park. Foraging isn't allowed in the park and the nearby grocery sells a meager bundle for $7.50.

Beautiful scenery, clean bathrooms, close walk to many services (grocery store, showers, the grand canyon, etc.)

Lots of crying babies over night, but what can you do.

This experience highlights the disconnect between rec.gov and the site booked. Without any notification of conditions on site we arrived to check in only to have the park rangers hand a

Sadly the snow made actually getting onto a campsite tricky but I was able to change my reservation to a different site that was cleared mostly of snow. Thanks for letting me change it! It was challenging driving through though with my 25' motor home, it was plowed mostly for cars, not bigger vehicles.Having such an empty campground was awesome! It was so beautiful with the snow. I don't remember what it's like in the summer, it's been years, but the winter camping is amazing. I'd come back many times, but sadly it is around 2,000 miles away which is too much of a drive. Keep the campground open in the winter! It's definitely worth it for the beauty and quiet.I wish I could have stayed a few days longer, I would have loved snowshoeing around the park! My dog too!In winter, especially if it snowed, make sure you bring crampons (spikes for your shoes) if you want to see any of the sites along the rim trail. And THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU NPS for letting me take my dog along the rim trail. There are so few places one can take dogs along trails in the NPS. This thankfully was a super duper place to walk with my dog!

Easy check in. Would be great to have a site map to take with us as cell service is spotty. Loved being so close to the Grand Canyon.

Campground easy to navigate, has potable water in the winter despite freezing temp, restrooms were nice, warm and clean! Shower services also easy to use, bring dollar bills to exchange for coins.

The campground was very well maintained, and had plenty of space. Signage throughout the park was good, and staff were friendly. We enjoyed the use of the bus system to get us to our trailhead and back to the campsite entrance. It is a bit of a walk to and from the entrance, so plan for some extra time with that. The restroom and shower facilities were well maintained. And most campers went to bed really early, so there wasn't much noise to worry about. We even had a visit from some Elk every day. I would love to stay here again in the future.
