Beautiful campsite close to bus that takes you to the canyon rim!Hike the Rim trail from South Kaibab trailhead to Mather point or along the red bus (hermit's rest) route for incredible canyon views without the crowds!

Always well kept up. Rangers at check-in are polite and efficient. Campers, quiet and respectful. Great price!

I always love staying at Mathers campground. Even though the campgrounds were fully booked there is enough room where the campgrounds dont feel crowded.

Spacious, flat campsite thisclose to water and a short walk to the restrooms. Clean, completely litter-free. Quiet and sociable neighbors. Friendly, very helpful staff on check in (who clearly love what they're doing). Well-stocked general store right at the entrance. And the overall location -- about ten minutes drive/park from the North Rim and the Grand Canyon Lodge there, can't be beat.

Amazing

Staying at the campground gave us so much flexibility with our trip as we didn’t have to worry so much about time. Also gave us the benefit of somewhere calm to come back and relax at after a day of hiking.

Small site with very short parking surface that is at a steep grade not suitable for RVs, camper vans, rooftop tents, etc. unless you have some pretty serious leveling/lift blocks.

Good location. Bathroom while not far is across a street rather than within the camp site.

Bathrooms are clean and nice, drinkable water is available at all times. Great opportunities to see elk, deer, and birds (watch out for the crows) they literally destroyed our water container and paper towels, so not only food concerned. Worth it to be inside the park and so close to the Grand Canyon, they also have busses to make exploring easier. The only complaint is that you have to walk on the road to get pretty much anywhere, even some trails. Star gazing opportunities are amazing! We loved it and definitely recommend.

Mather Campground was a lot of fun for my son and I on the week of Oct 24, 2021. We slept in a tent and it was cold, windy, rained 1 night but overall it was all great. Talked with a couple of park rangers that worked at the camp ground and they were extremely nice and informative. We say lots of Elk, Deer, Wild Bore, Squirls, etc. The only thing I would change is if they could properly create a couple of Level areas on each site for tents, and properly level each picnic table so everything does not roll or slide off. I know they are limited on funding but, this would be huge to fix. Thanks guys

Very clean facilities and helpful staff. No need to worry about water and restroom facilities as they are spread out within short walking distance from most campsites. Will definitely be back

Great campsites and amenities. If you want to shower then I suggest bringing one of those old plastic coin purses from the '90s with you.
