I had an awesome experience at Mather Campgrounds. The site was clean and spacious. The showers and toilets were as clean as Ive seen them at any other campsite. Its a short drive/walk to the Rim Trail, market, and restaurants

Very nice campground and really liked Maple loop. My only comment is the bathrooms closest to our site did not get cleaned the 2.5 days we were there. It was stocked but sinks were never cleaned and that was disappointing.Check-in process was easy and really appreciated the maps of campground, directions to the Village and information about where to park and shuttle bus schedule. Great visit!

It can take a whole day to explore the area around the historic village and walk / ride the shuttle along the south rim.

We liked the firepit, great conditions. Ranger was very helpful!

It really was amazing, close to everything and very well indicated. Only problem is how hard it is to plant the tent in the ground, lot of big rocks underneath the dirt.

An amazing experience, and everything we wanted! My daughter and I decided to take a last minute trip and got lucky in a last minute reservation for a beautiful private camp spot. We wanted this campground because it was so close to the Grand Canyon, the weather was beautiful, but most importantly you could have a fire in the fire pit that we had. The people around us were all very nice, but not too close. The rangers were very nice, professional, and actually wanted to help. It was an amazing experience all around and I would do it again anytime!

Nice, well-equipped campground. Felt safe and was able to get where we wanted easily. Glad we were close to the restroom. Got see a ton of wildlife right at our site.

A very large but well laid out campground. The sites were all well spaced and very clean. Nice to have a shuttle stop at the campground and the campground itself was located within walking distance of food and trails. Saw deer and elk throughout the campground but watch out for the ravens, they will try and steal food.

Bathrooms in poor shape, no soap, not clean, out of toilet paper. Campsite close to highway, road noise as early as 4am. Camp host could use a lesson in the "spirit of the law, vs the letter of the law", the two vehicles fit into the well defined parking space lined with large rocks, however the tires of one of the vehicles was on the gravel and not the pavement but still within the confines of the parking space. Was aggressively told by the camp host that all 4 wheels needed to be on the pavement or we'd have to park a 1/2 a mile away at overflow parking. I believe the spirit of the rule it to keep campers from parking in areas that are not part of the roadway system, however the host stuck to the letter of the law and made a big deal about the tires touching the gravel in a obvious parking space.

Loved Mather Campground. Very clean and well kept. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Quiet and peaceful tent camping. The view of stars at night around a campfire were unforgettable.

Our stay at Mather and the experience at the Canyon will definitely be imprinted into our memories and the memory of my seven-year-old. She had a blast and earned her South Rim Junior Ranger badge in the process. A great time was had by all.

Great spot-everything was clean-including very clean bathrooms-and the sites are reasonably well treed, so that even for a close car camping environment there’s some element of spacing/privacy. Fire ring with grate, picnic table and flat ground for tents. Camp hosts/rangers were very helpful, and I can’t forget mentioning the permanent local hosts-a few elk that like to wander the grounds. Some amenities are still unavailable due to covid-if you happen to be looking for showers.
