Great campground. Fire pits were great, nice picnic tables, good shade from the trees, clean bathroom facilities, easily accessible trash.

Great campsite, spacious and centrally located. Had service the entire time which is good if youre wanting that but not if youre looking to fully disconnect!

Id happily stay here again. Its a large campground, close enough to the market and restaurants to be convenient, but far enough to feel secluded. Site 222 has trees to shade both the tent and a vehicle, and there was room for more than one vehicle. Its a large site. The restroom is a bit of a hike in the night if you follow the road, but there is a shortcut a couple sites away. In late April, the gray water sink was still off for winter, so have a plan for food cleanup or choose boil-in-a-bag. It snowed the weekend before we arrived on April 20th. Since elk roam freely through the campground, be sure to stay aware so you dont sneak up on them without realizing it. Also, ravens are always on the lookout for your food. They were fun to watch.

Mather Campground is a good alternative if you want to stay in the Park but you dont want to pay high prices at the lodges. The campground is clean and the bathrooms are adequate. It is not a real outdoor experience however. The campsites are very close to each other, we could hear the person in the next site snoring in his tent. Also the noise of the trash truck at 3:30 AM is very loud, complete with backing up and slamming containers.

only one shower location for the whole campground, not enough room for cars and campers to park near the campsite.

We found the Mather Campground to be in excellent shape and work well for our camping stay. The location of Mather Campground is fantastic and access to major viewing sites is easy. The bathrooms were clean and well lit. The campsite #222 was level and parking for three normal sized cars. We wanted to use our SUV adapting portion of our tent, but the campsite had large rocks at the end of the parking area eliminating that option. Fortunately, our tent also works as a stand-alone tent. We saw elk and deer in the campground very close. Hot water to do dishes at the bathrooms would have been a nice luxury. One asphalt path to the bathroom was a little degraded and is in need of repair. For us, I would limit generator hours even more. Only provide a small window in the evening and even smaller in the morning. One camper our third morning ran a generator (pretty quiet) the entire morning and it constantly loaded and unloaded. Kinda funny the trash collection came very early, way before quiet hours ended. Overall, GREAT campground. Reservations were easy except the Map adjusting, try a duplicate window when making reservations, check-in was efficient and pleasant, we will be back!

The campground is well run and kept up. The sites are equipped with tables and fire rings and enough room for tent site choices. Site 222 was very large. Ample parking and at least 3 tent sites. There isnt much privacy between campsites, but everyone was respectful and quiet. This is a great campground for a popular national park.

All great. The seats are as described at the time of booking. There is even a shower at the entrance of the campsite ( must be paid extra). One side of the site is adjacent to a road, partly in sight. If you want to sleep absolutely peacefully, you should not choose the places on the street side.

A beautiful Campground and a great spot. We woke up one morning to a herd of elk and enjoyed plentiful space and close bathrooms. Plus lots of room to choose our tent site and easy access to everything.

For a very popular campground I can’t complain much about our site (site 222). It was close to the restrooms and had its own space near the back with just trees. A nice bonus since we were surrounded on all other sides by sites. The only mindblow for us were all the wildlife. And by wildlife I mean the monster sized crows! We dropped a bottle of chaffing cream by our tent on our way to hike for the day and when we’d come back they’d demolished it along with several things at our neighbors sites and were waiting for a slip up by our site the next morning. Wildlife out there wildin’ out!
Overall, great experience and would recommend again.
We had a great time in Oak 222. We had easy access to facilities, to trails and plenty of space for kids to run and play.

We had the perfect spot- oak loop 222! Located on the outer curve at the end, large site, plenty of open space and room for our dog to play. Close enough to the bathroom and water faucet, easy, walkable access to south rim trail, the market, mather point and trailer village where some of our family stayed. Nice flat spot, mostly dry ground after the snowfall the day before we arrived. Each day elk roamed in the open areas. Loved it! Minimal to no cell service- we didn’t mind! We had long range walkie talkies to communicate w family in the trails and trailer village. We will be back!
