Great clean camping spot close to the visitor center/shuttle. Simple amenities.

Shady, easy to navigate, plenty of space - it was great.

Campground was more spacious than what I anticipated. It would have been nice if there had been a food storage box. However, we had food bags and connected them to trees with rope we brought. We arrived later than planned, so we were a bit challenged with finding facilities. Also the main bathroom was not open at 3am when my son needed to go to the bathroom. He found one open, but had to go the opposite direction of our campground. It was very easy to hop on the blue bus and then the orange bus the next morning to get to the Kaibab trailhead for our hike.

We had a really nice camping spot with enough room. I would stay here again. The check in ranger wasn't the most knowledgeable about hiking rim to rim and seemed to not like his job much when it came to answering questions! He said I would need to go get quarters somewhere else for the showers but there were machines to get quarters there. I am not sure it worked but he gave incorrect information. The showers were ok. $2.50 in quarters for 5 minutes. The water was hot. Bathrooms were clean in the campground.

I visited the north rim of the GC on that date. I used recreation.gov to make this reservation. When we finished our visit to the GC, we put Mather CG in google maps and learned that we had a 4 hour drive. recreation.gov does not use travel time is listing nearest campgrounds. It says "point to point", which is most misleading, almost crazy since it means "as the crow flies". Travel time technology is mature and should be used on recreation.gov. As a new user of recreation.gov, I was shocked by this result.

Big, well kept campground with shuttle service to and from the rim itself. I would happily be back and stay here again.

Campsites are too close together to be great. It is what it is. Didn’t have much interaction with any park employee. Had a good time, no need to return. May try north rim next year.

Loved camping at the Grand Canyon National Park - in the middle of the Park!

OK, so this is probably just sour grapes from a long time tent camper, but allowing generators outside the trailer village and in the tent campground at any time is quite annoying. Other than that, the birds and elk wandering through the camp, and all of the ponderosa pines were nice, and the distance between sites was reasonable. I found that the paucity of signs on the bike and foot trails made finding your way around difficult, though not impossible (my backcountry experience helped there). The fact that personal cars are no longer allowed on the road to Hermits Rest should be made more obvious ( I wasted a morning trying to find how to get there before I realized I couldn't). Of course, this is the response of a person who has been to North Rim a couple of times and rowed the canyon three times, so I am not the usual South Rim visitor. After noting that most of the south rim history sites were mostly excuses to sell tkochtes, I know why I never bothered to go the the south rim before. But once again, I am not the usual person who goes to the south rim.
