The Mather Campground is well-maintained and in a beautiful setting. The free bus system is easy to access and expands your vistas of the canyon greatly. There are plenty of restaurants, markets, and taverns to make restful stops in the park.

Nice camp, well organized, all necessary info at reception even if no staff. Unfortunately, showers didn't work because of a pipeline failure.

Government facilities often get a bad rap for their lack of maintenance, apathetic federal employees, and a general dont care mentality. This place couldnt be more different. A well cared for and well thought out campground, staffed by great helpful staff!

We enjoyed our stay are only issue was showers/laundry closed at 6:00pm NO ONE told us at check-in. So our first afternoon/night we were a lot upset. We camp fall-winter and we have never had the showers close due to being "winter" months. The next day we went at 3:00 and it's closed for cleaning three times a day for cleaning 3:00 pm is one of those times. The park is great elk wondering around was really neat to see. The buses were great (use them!) we got to see a lot of the park using them. Purple line wasn't running but we did do the others (blue, red & orange). The deli in the morning at the market, great for breakfast and the post office is right next door (if you want to mail post cards)

The campsite was beautiful, we had a little sun in the morning. The water spigot was close by and the bathrooms were really clean!

This might be the nicest campsite in America. The Grand Canyon is the one place that I would camp for the full 14 days:

Overall a quiet well-kept campground. Nice seeing the pregnant elk everywhere and allowed to roam free.
